Pete Carroll likes Tebow, Eric Decker
Since we can find dozens upon dozens of outlets that are crushing the Broncos draft, how about some knowledgeable people - and there seems to be more and more of them - that like Tim Tebow, and Eric Decker for that matter.
The latest is Seattle Head Coach Pete Carroll, who gave his feelings on several prospects, Tebow and Decker included -
Regarding Tebow, Carroll was quick to give praise -
"I think anybody that got Tim Tebow had a good draft because I think he's going to surprise everybody," Carroll said. "And I think he's going to be a fantastic addition to a team. There's another guy that we would have really liked to have been able to add for the future because of what he brings. He will not let these issues about throwing motions and things be in the way. He will will his way through that if he's anything at all like I know."
Of course, the Seahawks play the Broncos this season and I'm sure Carroll wouldn't want to start the bulletin-board war already.
He also had high-praise for Decker, who was coached by former Broncos assistant Jed Fisch at Minnesota. Fisch is now a coach in Seattle -
"Very, very good receiver," Carroll said, "and we have a guy [previously] on that [Minnesota] staff, Jedd Fisch, who coached him and we knew all about him and really were hoping to get a chance to get him, too."
Not enlightening news, of course, but something to talk about is better than nothing!
<Hat Tip to SSC, who had a Fan Shot about this as well>

Carroll passed on Tebow twice
before the Broncos took him.
All that you behold, though it appears without, it is within, in your imagination, of which this world of mortality is but a shadow...and one day you’ll awake and find that you’ve never lived and never died, except in the dream.
William Blake
Well, look where they picked.
That was simply too early for him and they weren’t willing or able to do the jockeying for position the Broncos did to get him where they wanted him. I think Minnesota was going to get him and if they passed, he is gone early second round.

It seems
Everyone who actually coached football likes the pickup and everyone who is an “analyst” doesn’t like the move. Only time will tell.

I think MSM is working up a story line to draw in readers.
If this be Hell, let us make the most of it!
Oh you know they can't wait for the impending QB controversy as soon as the Broncos lose one game with Orton under center.
Whether the loss is his fault or not.

draft grade
Most of the commentary I’ve seen about our draft has been negative and even hostile. The only exception I’ve seen: a writer with the Dallas Morning News gave Denver a draft grade of A. I can’t remember his name, but he said we had by far the best 3rd round of any team.
NFP gave us an A, Peter King of SI liked it, Gosselin of DMN [guy you are thinking of] liked it, Cold Hard Football Facts liked it
I wonder how much of the hate for Tebow...
…is based on his very visible Christianity.

Didn't strong faith and courage in your convictions used to be virtues?

I'm not a person of faith myself but I don't see how having faith is a negative personality trait worthy of derision
We will never hear a story about Tim Tebow slapping his woman around, driving drunk, hanging out in strip clubs and stepping on gangster’s shoes, or any of that stupid crap. (Unless he’s a hypocrite but he seems genuine to me) All this kid wants to do is worship the Lord and win football games. I’m perfectly ok with that.

correction
Don’t you mean worship the Lord and win MFing football games?

That seems fair enough to me, too.

There are honest mistakes and there are bad choices.
They’re not always the same thing. Somehow in this Orwellian world of double speak we live in, someone can kill a whole family of people and some lawyer will try and call it a “mistake”. To me, that is a bad choice that you should have to suffer for. A mistake is when you were supposed to buy Post Raisin Bran and you got Kellogg’s Raisin Bran instead. This young man will make a lot of mistakes as he learns to play in the NFL but I just don’t see him making the “bad choices” a lot of former Broncos have made that ruined their lives and shamed their team.

yup
True, true, and remember, we all make bad choices at times too. I do think Tebow will avoid the major bad choices. At least the ones we would hear about in the papers.
I’m pulling for him.
