As the head coach, how much can McD work with Tebow?
I keep hearing that Tebow has come to the right place because McD is a great QB coach. I agree that McD is a great QB coach. My question is that as the head coach, how much time can he spend working with Tebow? I'm guessing he ate, drank, and slept (in different beds) with Cassell and Brady when he was the QB coach and/or offensive corrdinator. But as a head coach, how much time can he realistically spend working with Tebow?

He obviously has a good amount of other responsibilities, so he can’t devote as much time as he probably wants into the QB’s, including Tebow.
I get the feeling that Josh has schooled his brother Ben in the ways of teaching QB’s, and is allowing Ben to be his 1 on 1 mentor. Now, McDaniels is going to spend as much personal time tweaking Tebow into the QB he envisions as he can, and I would venture to say they’ll spend plenty of time together.
Fix the line, Moreno will be fine.
I agree...
but Ben is unproven so hopefully he a diamond in the rough and not just a case of nepotism.

I'm not sold on Ben either...
but he did come from the same background (coach’s son) as Josh did so it’s possible for him to be good too…plus I can’t see Josh putting him in that position if he didn’t think it was best for the team.

mine is not to question, mine is only to warn: we said the same thing about shanny. A LOT.

I hear ya...
but Shanny was in untouchable God mode by then whereas Josh is in his first job as a head coach. i just can’t see him putting some jerk in charge of coaching what he knows is the most importand position on his team just because they’re related. I mean it could be a bad decision, but I’m sure Josh truly feels he’ll do a great job.

No, Ben McDaniels is Tebow's position coach
But Josh is a hands on guy, specifically with the offense. He will spend as much time as he can afford to without taking away from his other responsibilities and delegate the rest.

He gets to spend as much time as he wants to.
If he think that spending 80% of his time with Tebow will be the best possible thing to do for the Broncos, he’s gonna do it (not likely with his trusted brother handling QB duties). I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Between Josh and Ben and then Mike McCoy, I think Tebow is in safe hands. Not to mention the guy is smart enough to learn from experience. It’s not like if he becomes the starter and he doesn’t have a good game because someone didn’t teach him something that he won’t figure it out himself.
My problem with the situation is when everyone underestimates a person (and that could be any player, not just Tebow). Great coaching can speed up player development, but a lack of it doesn’t hinder progression. I’m sure there are quite a few players that came out of tiny schools where they didn’t get the best coaching their whole life, yet they turn out just as successful as the ones that do. There are guys that can have the best coaches in the world and still epic-fail. So I think this is really a non-issue. Isn’t it??

As I have stated and believe, Tebow is the face of this franchise whether we want to accept it or not. For better or worse Tebow will get the necessary training he needs to fulfill that quest. Just watch and see…And believeee…
It is very weird for me....
but I am becoming more and more excited about Tebow by the day. It seems to defy my normal reasoning, but I can’t remember when I have been this excited about a draft pick. And I think that it is the combination of McD and Tebow. Those that read my posts know I have been critical of McD, but something strange is going on with me internally….but the results on the field will ultimately steer my feelings on this.

I agree Bonaire...hes a very polarizing pick....and I think the majority of us are feeling this way!

In 2006 I was one of the guys who said WTF! When Shanny traded up to get Cutler...
I thought what in the world does he see in this sulky kid that looks like he’s on ludes!?! Tebow was a different feeling not only in my head but in my heart and it is hard to explain other than the feeling is there. Let’s hope the feeling drives us all the way to Canton in a few years…
I agree...
We’re hoping for a potential face of the franchise for years to come….??? Not a Matt Leinart who was a top 10 1st rounder but was so bad that Arizona had to bring Warner just to cover up the Millions of $$$$$ invested/wasted on Arizona’s next Jake Plummer.
And…I feel that while yet really untested, Ben is an ‘Unknown" quantity to us and the league. Knowing Josh’s father, and Josh himself, do you really think the apple has fallen far from that tree….could you imagine Josh putting Ben in as is QB coach under the immense scrutiny and media curiosity that will follow Tebow every day on and off the field? These vultures will not be happyuntil they can finally reach a verdict of “Yes” he’s no NFL QB, or “Wow”, what were “WE” thinking? Please read this “Jamie Dukes”, and I mean you especially!
Have faith “Nation”…if you like Tebow, you should feel confident that McD knows everything in his current and future career is riding on this, and it will be handled as such. If you don’t like the Tebow pick, well…then no amount of assuring or possibility thinking is going to wake you from your “coma”. It’s just going to take time!

Synergy
Tebow picked the team/coach he would play for in High School
He took Nease to Fla State championship
Tebow picked the team/coach he would play for in College
…and well, all that
I believe if rookies got to pick the NFL team/coach they most wanted, Tim Tebow would have picked the Broncos because of coach McDaniels. He may say something like that but who would believe he isn’t just sucking up as any rook should? I do.
Ben McD in the QB coach slot may look bad to some but I see it as another of Jedi’s ballsy moves. In a good way. The ability for this HC to communicate quickly and effectively with his QB coach will pay dividends for the player. Leave ego at home, no time for that crap, games to be won.
I believe Tim Tebow, in the right organization, is a once in a generation QB.
Masterfully played McX! Play him when he’s ready. His confidence cannot really be shaken and his desire to win football games overrides any ego he has.
Synergy – I believe!
Go Broncos!
