Haven't we had enough of arrogant coaches destroying teams?
It's amazing to me that we put up with arrogant new coaches coming into franchises and destroying them. Here we have a little dictator come into a franchise and attempt to put his mark on it by getting rid of the starting young QB, flushing 30% of the roster, upsetting the whole organization and then changing systems without consulting the team . This results in the best player on the team to hold out from OTA's, precipitating talk that he will be traded. Will this little dictator go and kiss that player's ass and cajole him to come into the fold? No. He won't and now there is talk of trading away this franchise player for ... draft picks!! Are you kidding me?
Where are Jamie Dukes and John Clayton when you really need them? Where is the outrage and disbelief that this is happening? Where is the condemnation that this guy has no idea how to build a football team? How dare he release 30% of last season’s roster without so much as a by your leave?
Where are the 3-4 win predictions? Where are the tales of doom and gloom on the total downfall of the franchise?
How are they letting Mike Shanahan get away with this? It's outrageous I tell you! The dummy won’t last the season.
Okay, rant is over and I do hope that the sarcasm is not lost and that everyone can see how this truly does relate to what is going on here with our beloved Broncos and a coach who I am coming to totally admire.

The satire is truly effective
Well done Alan….now if only Iron man would get under center, or sit back and wait for a handoff if he refuses to throw…..

You made my blood start to boil before I caught the sarcasm…
Great post.
But wait!
Shanahan will get a pass because the Redskins have been mired in mediocrity for years, have only had one decent season in the last decade, with only one playoff win during that time. That is not the same as here, where we…uh, never mind.

Too bad the sarcasm will go way over the heads of the “analysts” in question.

Great post... So close to unloading some whoop ass on ya.... LOL
I was so ready to batter the sh*t out of you and your post, and then you got me. I love how you structured the post. Definitely toyed with my emotions…. HAHA
Very well played indeed.
I had my caps-locked and my exclamation point ready for action. I was going to unload some Denvery Post style vitriol on you and tell you to go back to Raiderland. You got me. Nicely done.
All work and no play makes Homer something something.
Thanks for all the comments
This has been under my skin for seveal weeks and the Haynsworth stories have put me over the top….
And yet not a word of criticism from anyone. It has truely amazed me. And with all the criticism of the Tebow pick who is so much of a reach by a press that never said a negative word one about Shanahan moving up in the draft to take Jarivis Moss.
It was all too much so I had to have some fun with it. Thanks again! I hope no one choked on anything before they figured it out. And I suppose I wont hear a word from those who probably agreed with the first part of the post until they saw who it was directed at. All good fun for this time of year.

The big difference
Shanahan has 2 Super Bowl rings as a head coach, a great deal more experience than McDaniels, and didn’t alienate and trade his major skill position players, the only big one being Campbell, but that was facilitated by the McNabb trade, which everyone thinks is an upgrade, at least for the time being.
hes been a 500 coach
for the last 3 years and hasnt won but one playoff game in the last 10. So you are saying that if Shananhan does exactly the same thing that McDaniels does in trying to turn a fanchise around its somehow okay for one and not okay for the other?
If anything should scare you it is that the approach of both seems so oddly alike. But the truth is, both have taken over franchises that were going no where. They have both taken on some heavy rebuilding projects and they are diving in head first. Both need a team and a locker room that buys into what they are doing and both are actively getting rid of those that don’t.
It almost looks like Shanahan has learned from watching McDaniels. He used to coddle players like Haynesworth. This is not to knock Shanahan.. That was the point of the sarcasm. I dont fault what Shanny is doiing, I am faulting the media and fans for not seeiing the similarities in the approaches of two excellent coaches trying accomplisn the exact same task. Turn around a franchise.

If anything....McD has managed to get to Shanahan's staus quo level in only one season....hes an advanced learner!!!!

He has a better history than McDaniels though
Which is why the media gives him a pass. He also hasn’t shaken up the franchise as much, he hasn’t traded 2 all pro players away, his most controversial move right now is probably Trent Williams over Russel Okung, but he also has enough talent evaluation history to show he knows what he’s doing running a team. McDaniels has shown he knows how to handle a Qb, and really that is it. The situations are nothing alike.
Actually, the big difference was...
when Campbell knew he was available for trade he didn’t go nuclear and try to make his shiny new coach look bad. His trade wasn’t “facilitated” by the McNabb pickup. Campbell was clearly on the trading block before the Skins picked up McNabb.
Take my advice... I'm not using it!
"If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague."
Campbell knew
he was on the block last year. And all he did was play well enough to land in a good (for him) situation. He’s better than Russell gettiing out ot the car!

Good stuff
I might of had added the complaint about bringing in old players. McD bringing in older defensive backs vs Shanahan binging in old RBs. Rec’d.

"I am a business major in college after all." - One MHR commenter's rationale for knowing more about the Denver Broncos than I do. LOL.
Truly hilarious way to put it.
Makes ya think…. I can tell Shanny has not let complacency get the best of him though. Washington needs someone like him.
I’ll never stop missin’ the good ol’ days, or Shannahan like he was/could be. But now, as we all know, it’s for the best, because here comes YOUR 2010 DENVER BRONCOS!!!!
Thanks for the lively post!
First team to three consecutive SB wins!!!! and then some, right? I think four and someone else oughtta have a 'fair' shot ( =

I was going to flame you, until I read the last line. Very good, the sarcasm and irony are not lost here. I guess we are just used to having wayward Denver Post commenters show up to throw out a little unsubstaniated venom. Rec’d Alan
Two glaring differences...
Shanahan has established himself as a SB winner and future HoF, where the young rookie McDaniels has the audacity to tear down what the builder constructed…I’ll dare him make a mockery of the great Shanahan’s success!! He is a football god…
I was worried when I saw the title
But this is a great use of sarcasm and irony! I like this a lot!

Great post - very funny
It’s funny to think how many amateurs believe they would do a better HC job the McDaniels or that result has to happen within a year. Listening to people like tricks318, you would believe that we should only hire HC that has two Superbowls under their belt. I think we have a good season ahead of us…just can’t wait!!! (I’ve never wanted the summer to be over so fast…)
Awesome
