Horse Tracks - 5/18/10 -- QB Camp Underway

Dumervil: "Happy to be a Bronco" - DenverBroncos.com
"I've always played this game without the big contracts or the big long-term extensions, so I'll continue to do so," said the NFL's reigning sack leader. "I'm a true believer that when you take care of things the right way, good things happen."

A Different Kind of Quarterback - DenverBroncos.com
Different in the sense that in addition to his 9,285 passing yards for 88 touchdowns and just 18 interceptions at the University of Florida, he gained 2,947 yards on the ground with an SEC-record 57 rushing touchdowns. Different because he rushed for a touchdown on a designed quarterback scramble on his first play as a Gator and operated mostly out of the shotgun for the rest of his collegiate career. Different because he was the first player in NCAA history to win the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore. Different because he's a two-time BCS National Champion.

Krieger: The next Elway? Oh, c'mon now - The Denver Post

Broncos discussing long-term deal with Dumervil - Colorado Springs Gazette
Brandon Marshall handled his contract displeasure one way. Elvis Dumervil is going about his contract business with an entirely different attitude.

Inside the playbook: Cover 3 | National Football Post
Last week, we discussed the Tampa 2 coverage and broke down the scheme on the chalkboard. A 2-deep, 5-under defense that turns into a 3-deep, 4-under scheme once the middle linebacker runs the middle of the field with any inside vertical scheme. A basic defense, but just like installation in the NFL offseason, we will work our way through the core coverages.

On guard: the Evans deal | National Football Post
With so much NFL news in the last couple of weeks, it went with little to no notice that on May 5th a new financial standard was set for the offensive guard position. In the midst of some negativity from the lawsuit-turned-arbitration involving stolen Vicodin tablets, the New Orleans Saints consummated a major player signing.

Bena. My condolences. Glad to see you are back from the Cleveland Cavs debacle.

The NFL is a vastly superior product to the NBA and let’s hope the Broncos have a brighter future than the Cavs. I’m feeling confident that Elvis has a very bright future that will arrive in his bank account in the next few weeks.

I think LeBron’s bank account also has a bright future. I hope James stays in Cleveland (for the sake of the city and it’s a proper match).

Apparently this was the awesome, pre-injury Alphonso Smith.

The Officiating is so much more consistent in the NFL than the NBA

No “Superstar” calls BS or refs that have grudges against teams. That makes the NFL way more enjoyable to watch than the NBA

true

but the big Brady “Tuck Rule” call was against the raiders so I’m ok with that.

Well....Paige

has finally done it…..

He finally wrote the article that definitively STATES Tebow is the second coming of Elway…….

He is not speculating….he is not hinting….he is blatantly blashpheming “The Duke”, “St. John”, “#7”.

Completely grotesque.

woody just wants to be able to say

“I told everyone that Tebow was the next coming of Elway,” and that HE coined the next catchphrase. I really wonder if there are a slew of articles that he bashed Elway back in the day.

Considering

That History DOES tend to repeat itself, Woody is ancient, and The MSM has been the same in regards to its over-reaction about just about everything since the first caveman reported that Deer Had horns bigger than trees……..

I can’t speak for Woody himself…I’m not sure he was really writing in the same context back then……but I’d gaurantee that plenty of articles in general bashed Elway. Its only logical. Therefore I’m certain that a large number of columnists were hiding after we repeated in 97-98.

Not very happy about the William's boys absences....

It’s one thing to workout in FL, but when team activities start you really should man up and arrive on time…ala Doom.

Big Jamal disappoints me in that he’s a new addition and should be looking to get to know everyone…

Just my 2 cents, but I’m very happy that camp is underway!!!

J.J. Arrington is hurt? Is anyone else worried about the RB position in 2010. We kind of have to sign Westbrook since all we have is Moreno (got hurt in 2009), Buckhalter (always hurt), JJ Arrington (hurt) and some undrafted rookies.

Apparently this was the awesome, pre-injury Alphonso Smith.

Let's throw a 6th round pick to Buffalo for Marshawn Lynch

Sure he can be a dumbass, but when his head is on straight he’s awesome and would be good insurance of Knowshon goes down.

The Bills are asking for a 2nd rounder. It takes two to dance that dance and a 6th won’t do it.

He really sounds like the Texans' Brandon Marshall

now, in good way and bad way, alas. Good luck with that, Houston!

?? Chargers signed 2 UFA linebackers to 2 year deals??

I’m sorry to bring up the MSM, Widley, but geesh- if we did that the whole of the MSM structure would have it as a talking point about how unprepared McD is. No, I don’t think I am paranoid nor that I have a martyr complex; just watching what happens out there.
But to the main point—- Doesn’t this seem like it would be a bit unnerving for a Bolts fan? Just how bad is their depth? Is there something I am unaware of? I had not thought they needed to to this. I am going to be interested in how these two perform, and if they stay in the league past their contract. We had a lot of players two years ago that are no longer in the league— Is SD heading that way, or do they have an insight on these guys?

by idahobronc on May 18, 2010 1:42 PM MDT reply actions

Dumervil is a class act

I would love to see him get his contract because as McDaniels as stated, he truely deserves it. I mean this guy is a player and the fact that he showed up when he didn’t have to just shows everybody where his mind is at…..being a Bronco and helping the team get better. That is how you handle a contract situation.

Man I am glad to have OTAs here.
