Family guy: Brady's absence no laughing matter for Pats fans
So why is the fact he's not fully participating in the Patriots' offseason workouts such a big deal? Why has it been a topic of debate on talk radio and any other place in New England where fans and media voice their opinions?
Voluntary workouts? Must be 'protest season' around the league
You've got to love the "protest season." It's the time of year when the draft is over and training camp is still a couple of months away. The news has less to do with the X's and O's and -- without games to cover -- the media attention turns to any storylines available. As usual, players refusing to show up for voluntary practices takes center stage.

This isn’t a particularly interesting article. It’s about the high price of NFL tickets, but check out the photo of Arrowhead Stadium.

These guys used to call themselves the best fans in the NFL.
Apparently this was the awesome, pre-injury Alphonso Smith.

I thought the article has an interesting point… I know I can’t afford season tix, and for the most part, I enjoy watching a game on my flatscreen better – you get to see every play and the replays. You miss some of the energy, but you see every play.
You know, Jerry Jones may not be as crazy as everyone thinks. He’s trying to keep fans in the stadium, and that huge jumbo tron gives even the nose bleed a good look at the action…
So I see you rolled your way into the semis?

That article about Cory Procter is vague about whether we signed him or just brought him in for a tryout.
Apparently this was the awesome, pre-injury Alphonso Smith.
We have not signed Proctor...
It has been corrected…

It has been reported by the Fan that we did sign Proctor this morning

*Sigh*...another waste of space article by Kiszla.
The DP columnists must have some sort or rotation set up where they all write basically the same article, but change little things so they all seem a little different.

Voluntary workouts? Must be ‘protest season’ around the league
He highlights Doom in there:
Denver’s Elvis Dumervil isn’t using the “protest season” to state his case. He’s at practice and — believe me — that goes a long way to getting the coach to march down the hall to the front office people and push to get a deal done.
Kickin' it with My Main Man Kiz!
I just kicked it at Kiz’s place. Oh boy. At least he fired off a good lede. He probably just wanted the world to know he’s up-to-date with the pop culture these kids are doing these days.
His premise is a crock, though. McD doesn’t just hoard quarterbacks. He also hoards cornerbacks, interior offensive linemen and running backs. Wanna know which positions management thinks are important? It’s one’s where they’re happy to sign/draft themselves into a situation where somebody with NFL value gets cut. I mean, which CB isn’t going to make the roster? Nate Jones? Syd’Quan Thompson? (McGeorge, I can hear your rejoinder this one already. Don’t. Just. Don’t.)
But you know how it is with my man ‘Kiz: It doesn’t exist if it doesn’t involved the quarterback. I bet his wife has to stencil #7 on the garbage can to get him to take the trash out. Arrange his bacon as #15 or he won’t eat it.
Yippee, it’s a quarterback controversey? Did anyone mention that the offseason is long, especially when you’re a professional scribe who’s the most boring guy in every bar he’s ever bellied up to?
I don't get the Kiz hate this morning
Every other post on MHR lately is fervent “Orton or Tebow” stuff. I think Kiz makes a good point (although I could do without some of the hyperbole in the beginning of the article): Brady Quinn is going to do everything in his power to win the starting job.
It was mentioned the other day that Quinn was on the practice field throwing passes to an equipment manager after EVERYONE else…even The Tebow himself….had stopped working. If Tebow had been the last one out there, playing catch with an equipment guy, the breathless platitudes in the comments section would be avalanching right about now.

Good point
about the Tebow accolades if he had stayed late…
The one thing Kiz did sort of skim over… he talks about Quinn being the most accurate, but his stats in the pros would suggest otherwise. Anyone have any thoughts on that part?
So I see you rolled your way into the semis?

Agreed
I wish he would have elaborated on Quinn looking so good that day. What was the setting? In 7 on 7s? In simple undefended routes?
