The Broncos have signed their first draft pick from the 2010 class, agreeing to terms with cornerback Syd'Quan Thompson. Thompson was an All-Pac 10 performer for the Golden Bears and started all 52 games of his collegiate career, a school record.
Thompson was selected by the Broncos in the seventh round, with the 225th selection acquired from Tampa Bay. Thompson is regarded as one of the most versatile, physical, and toughest corners in the draft, but his stock took a huge plummet when he ran poor 40 yard dash times and didn't show great straight line speed.
Here's what Thompson had to say upon being selected by the Broncos:
"Basically, I’ll do whatever the coaches what me to do," Thompson said. "Any position they want me to play, I’m going to play it. I’m just happy I was able to be a part of something that’s good in Denver. I’m just hoping to go out there and compete and do my best."
