Sophomore Spark - DenverBroncos.com
Chris Baker was the only undrafted college free agent on the Broncos to make the active roster from training camp in 2009. One step above a practice squad player, Baker saw action in one game versus Pittsburgh in week eight. He felt more like a college freshman than an NFL professional.

Broncos hope age comes before winning on D-line - The Denver Post
A million here, a million there — pretty soon you're talking about real money. And when the Broncos plowed into the offseason to repair the blemishes from last season's 8-8 finish, they spent some real money on the defensive line by signing three front-line veterans for an extreme makeover.
Kiszla: Broncos trying to sack Dumervil at negotiating table - The Denver Post

Elvis overshadowing Champ contract situation | All Things Broncos
Six years into Bailey’s seven-year contract, it’s already fair to argue the Champ is the best defensive player in Broncos’ history. Also in the discussion are Randy Gradishar, Louis Wright, Karl Mecklenburg, Rich Jackson and Steve Atwater/Dennis Smith/Billy Thompson. Pass rusher Elvis Dumervil needs a couple more Elvis-like years before he’s included in the best-ever-Denver-D-player topic.
Bengals should pass on new deal with Benson | National Football Post
According to reports, the agent for Bengals RB Cedric Benson approached the club about a new deal. Not surprising, as this is common practice in the league when a player comes off a season in which he shows production.
Lost in Translation | National Football Post
In the never-slow NFL offseason, the quotes keep coming and I'll keep interpreting what they mean. Welcome to this week's edition of Lost in Translation:

Donald Penn's backup: 'I'm not' a starting left tackle | National Football Post
That is why there is little doubt that Donald Penn will be in place as the starting left tackle before the season starts. The Bucs don’t have any other choice and they don’t have another player on the roster with an NFL start at left tackle, according to Anwar Richardson of the Tampa Tribune.
Is Notre Dame primed to land another four-star recruit? | National Football Post
Already with a verbal commitment from four-star Florida defensive end Clay Burton late last week, is Notre Dame ready to land another big fish in Florida’s sea of defensive high school talent?
On The Fringe: Following 5 players as they fight for their NFL lives
The tail end of the 80-man training camp roster is not a comfortable place. The ladder that must be climbed to make the final 53-man team is often greased like a carnival pig, with little to hold on to but hope. But for athletes with NFL dreams, even a little bit of hope is better than nothing.

Kiszla is at the grenade-throwing again.
He just thinks of a controversial headline and then tosses it out to see if it sticks. I am on record now as saying that he and Paige and a few others are causing fan strife in Denver. They are NOT reporting news. They are throwing these wild conjectures into the streets of Denver like grenades and then “reporting” on the reaction they get from fans. It’s not reporting if you are creating the news, guys.
We are over a month away from training camp, and GASP! Doom has not been offered a deal. How does that lead to the conclusion that Bowlen is no longer in it to win championships, but just for the money? This article might have been better published in early August. Right now, it is speculation upon a scenario that has many likely outcomes. What’s that, you say? It sells papers because it’s controversial? BS. I’ll get my news from people who are NOT trying to sell papers, like those with eyes and ears in Denver with a solid motive, like MHR writers and other bloggers who have a vested interest in accuracy, not editorializing.
The Broncos can’t afford NOT to give Doom an offer he will be happy with, because he has gone about his business the RIGHT way. If he doesn’t get his deal, it sends a bitter message to other players, and I think holdouts are in our future. But the Broncos SHOULDN’T sign Doom for a record price. It just wouldn’t make sense.

I hope the Denver Post doesn’t re-sign Kiszla when his contract expires, maybe sign him to a tender and then play hardball, and ultimately trade him to the Outhouse Times-Picayune.
There's no need to fear, Underdog is here! / Broncos/Dodgers/Lakers fan in Niners/Raiders/Giants/Warriors country, and damned proud of it.
Appreciate the Tracks
I can’t wait until we sign Elvis. Well, who am I kidding, I just can’t wait until preseason because Elvis better be signed by then!
It’s funny I gain some respect for Kiszla or Paige, then they write something that makes me knock the respect back down a peg or eight…..
I’m glad I don’t have to inflate ridiculous hypotheses to try and make more money. I have a feeling were I fortunate enough to be the Broncos ‘beat writer’ – I’d rarely run out of constructive article ideas, because I could just come here for inspiration…. But I wouldn’t know for certain unless it happened.

Thanks for the news John!
I’ve given up on the Post writers for the most part not sure where they get there facts from. Legwolds article on the Dline wasn’t bad, but that headline reads kind of odd.

He was trying to play on the old saying...
Age comes before beauty. It was an epic fail in wit if you ask me. The article itself wasn’t bad, but that headline :/

Its a good article
it is a good prep for the MHR positional review on the DL, which is the next position we’ll be covering.

journalists are dinosaurs to tell the truth. They are doing whatever they have to do to sell copies even if they report spurious things. It’s unfortunate but eventually print will die. Of course, Kleiza and Paige are partially responsible for the industry’s accelerated demise. With that said, I’m sure Doom will be taken care of. He’s too valuable to let get away

Sophomore spark..this was scary because Knowshon was just..
“one step above the practice squad”.
Hey nimwit, ALL rookies were one step above the practice squad if they were on the 53.
Why did you single out Chris Baker?
