Denver Broncos: The team has added fullback Kyle Eckel to the roster. Eckel spent last season with the Saints and will wear #39 for the Broncos.

Former Patriot
Well he was w/ Patriots in 2007, so McD would be familiar with him already.
Navy guy. Nice.

Whoa there...Did you just say what I think you said?
My prescription: two happy pills, (since they’re best taken with food, enjoy a nice medium rare Tebown steak), chase the whole thing with a glass half full of the orange koolaid (Orange Crush will do in a pinch), get a good night’s sleep and try that comment again…. - Broncs Cheer

Having been in the Navy
I’m not sure the Navy’s school for wayward boys necessarily connotes either. But if we want to run the flex bone we now have two players familiar with it.
Kyle had some issues while a young Ensign. He was involved in a fight/sexual assault charge in ‘06 and was released from his Naval commitment. Word was it had as much to do with being courted by the NFL as the incident out in Annapolis. He was also the two time MVP of the Army-Navy football game. I love this pick-up. Triple option at the goal line with Tebow, Moreno, and Eckel. Three Tight Ends and let em figure out what the heck we’re about to do to them. I LOVE IT!
Depth just in case Spencer gets hurt.
Solid move. Now it’s just a matter of does he stay or does he take up a roster spot?

Great Stuff DBF!!
Interesting, with all the he-said/she-said assault stuff, doesn’t really sound like McD’s kind of guy. Though it does sound like Pioli and BB were pretty stoked on him after the ’05 draft, so I guess we can see where that comes from.
Also interesting how he was able to work(or get worked by) the system and get out of the NAVY without any active duty obligation.
Nonetheless, the Patriots took a chance on Eckel, who came with an endorsement from Belichick’s father. Considered one of the best talent evaluators in college football, Steve Belichick regularly attended Navy games until he died in 2005 at age 86.
“Steve loved Eckel,” said Minor Carter, an Annapolis lawyer who graduated from the academy and spoke to the elder Belichick shortly before he died. “That’s why Billy likes him. His father said he’s the real deal.”
Guess we’ll see if he sticks.
All we're trying to do is post on a MF blog here!

Here's a thought?
With his rushing achievement (2,900yds +) @ Navy, any chance he comes in as a big bruising RB to compliment Knowshon & Co? Not a FB!!!! I mean his college #’s are awesome….just sayin?
