Don't Eat the Food in Denver's Sports Venues
Pepsi Center, Coors Field, and INVESCO Field's food vendors apparently are pretty unsanitary, according to Outside the Lines. All 3 had over 60% of their vendors in violation of various sanitation codes. There was even a report of some kind of fly in a bottle of cognac at the Pepsi Center.
In fairness, some venues had 100% of their vendors in violation, but this is a little unnerving.

Well, good thing the only concession purchases I make at these venues are draft beers :-)

How do we know
That the fly wasn’t a paying customer? ;)

It wasn't the fly most people are concerned with. How do you keep flys out of a sports venue anyhow!?
It was the danged cockroach that was carrying off with a hotdog I was concerned about.
I mean… how is that little bittie thing gonna eat that 1 lb of good american miscellaneous pig matter?!

It sorta depends on which codes were being violated doesn't it?
I think there are numerous codes that have no effect one way or the other on the quality or safety of the food. Codes involving things like the floors being continuously swept and mopped, trash cans being emptied, etc. Meeting every code can be pretty tough for a normal restaurant, I can imagine it would be extremely difficult for a place like a stadium food vendor.
true that
But but I believe there are different expectations and standards for different scenarios such as this.
I’m no expert, but it would only make sense.

Not buying it
With the amount of money they charge for already sub standard food, they could afford to hire someone to keep up with code violations at every stand. Cost cutting disrespect for the customers is all this is.

Further more
The article only referenced critical violations, which, in Denver at least;
… “means a provision of these rules and regulations that, if in noncompliance, is more likely than other violations to contribute to food contamination, illness, or environmental degradation.”
Does not include full trash cans, unswept floors, etc.
If you’ve ever had food poisoning, then you probably wouldn’t want to eat at a place if they can’t figure out how to properly cool their meat, handle ice, or keep the flies away. And if you’ve ever worked in a restaurant, at least one with high quality standards, then you know it is just a matter of education and proper management.
I’d like to see them have to start prominently displaying a health grade, that way the consumer knows what the inspector knows. That would fix a lot of the problems through supply and demand. Not many demand a supply of food that they know has an increased risk of making them sick.

Good to know
Gonna be at Coors Field on Friday, so thanks for the info! Trying to eat healthy anyways ;)

If you want your immune system to be there when you need it...
you got to challenge it!!! What 5 second rule? Pick up that cookie and eat it!
Seriously, they say nearly 70 % of people don’t wash their hands after toilet use…and I still shake hands.
