Getting Primed for Floyd's HoF Induction
As you may remember, Jezru, Tim, Don, and I started the MHR Denver Broncos HoF Committee 1.5 years ago to get Shannon Sharpe and other Broncos in the hall. We were outraged at what had happened, and we called it a travesty...twice. Long story short, Floyd Little made it in the hall, and we'd like to pretend we had something to do with it.

Now that we're only 10 days away from Floyd's induction, I wanted to remind everyone how close it is, and how great he was and is. Sports Illustrated has a recently published article on Floyd that shows how much the induction means to him and shows us which fan is really responsible for Floyd's induction: Tom Mackie.
Aug. 25, 2009, dawns. Floyd's in bed at 9 a.m.; he's an unemployed man. Tom, too sick at heart to enslave himself to the Hall of Fame website, leaves his computer to buy another $3.99 hoagie and despair alone in a park.
Floyd's phone rings. His wife answers. "This is Joe Horrigan from the Pro Football Hall of Fame," says the voice, and DeBorah, wide-eyed, hands the phone to Floyd. His eyes begin to shine. He jabs the speaker button and croaks, "I want you to say that again for my wife!"
"Floyd, it is my pleasure and honor to tell you that you've been nominated to the Pro Football Hall of Fame!"
Floyd says a thousand thank-yous, hangs up, hugs and kisses DeBorah and cries and does a Smurf dance in his underwear.
Tom glances at his cellphone as he drives. Missed call. Floyd. He dials back. "You did it, Tom!" cries Floyd. "I'm one of the two senior nominees!"
Tom yanks the car to the shoulder of the road. "You made this happen!" shouts Floyd. "It's me and Dick LeBeau!" Tom's heart climbs into his throat. "You did all the heavy lifting, Tom!" Tom's eyes fill with tears. "Thank you, Tom! Thank you!"
Pretty cool snippet, huh? You can read the entire article by clicking on this link.
You can also spend a bit of time watching the NFL films highlights we compiled of Floyd, especially for those of you who never got the chance to watch Floyd play.

Wrapping up, I wanted to let everyone know that Sindonor and myself are flying from Seattle to Baltimore, then carpooling with one of his friends to Ohio for the HoF inductions next week. Is anyone else headed to Canton for Floyd's induction? What are the odds we can have an MHR party?
Congratulations to the 44 voters for putting #44 in after the 44th Super Bowl on the 44th year after he entered the league, entering along with the other #44, Dick LeBeau.

Thanks!
I rarely watch the HOF induction ceremony, but this is one I will not miss! When I wrote to some of the committee members urging them to vote for Little, I always ended my message with the thought that, if they voted for him and he got in, when they watch him make his acceptance speech, they will know they did the right thing.

That's a Great Idea
I wrote some emails, but never thought of adding that. I sure hope it’s true, he seems like a great person, and I can’t wait for his speech.

Once again
Great job to all the members of the MHR Denver Broncos HoF Committee. A big thank you for all you’ve done to help make this happen.

My ship finally came in, but it was the Kobayashi Maru.
That is STILL a great highlight video!!!
I could, and have, watched it over and over again. Floyd really was just as dynamic as I remember. Great job.
Once again...
well done to everyone who helped us out with this. After reading the SI article it became clear that Floyd’s time had come. Between Tom Mackie’s efforts, our efforts and the efforts of countless untold advocates, it’s wonderful to know that when a base of committed folks focus their energies on a common goal great things can happen.
I unfortunately am unable to attend as I’d hoped. However, you can be damn sure I’m going to be reppin’ #44 at home watching on TV. I’m hopeful he’ll be able to hear me from here.
