This is what the Denver Post wrote on Jamll Williams
But Williams still is recovering from an arm injury that kept him out of all but one game last season, or another injury, or the Broncos want him to improve his fitness. The team likely will not have him on the field to start two-a-days.
Veterans report Saturday and will be on the field for their first practice Sunday morning, but Williams has been designated physically unable to perform (PUP) by the team this week. Players are designated as PUP in training camp when they cannot participate fully in practice when camp opens.
They can be removed from the PUP list at any time
and return to the field. They can participate in conditioning and weight-training sessions with the team's strength and conditioning coaches.
It was somewhat of a surprise move for the Broncos given that Williams declared himself so healthy just a few weeks ago "that my body feels like I'm back in college."
Broncos coach Josh McDaniels didn't specify why Williams will be held out.
"Whether it's conditioning, injuries, physical, that whole thing, it's a combination of all those things — the PUP designation," McDaniels said. "Hopefully it won't be a long-term thing, but it's a combination of a lot of those things. We're just going to make sure we're smart, and hopefully we'll have him out there as soon as he can. It's a lot of things."
