Denver Broncos 2010 Season Preview
What it says. A nicer than nice review of the upcoming season, balanced and surprisingly knowledgeable. Saw some things I didn't know about.

Very fair assessment! Thanks Spock!
You, my friend, are proof you dont need to have big floppy feet and a red nose to be a clown!
Great find!
Seems to me he had Royal all wrong, though. Not only will he be playing slot this year, but I also seriously doubt he’ll play a main role in the return game as he suggests.
I also think he’s downplaying Tebow’s a role a little more than what I would. But that’s just my opinion. Really fair take overall.
It's Alex, just Alex. But you can call me Alex=)
I think he underestimates Royal and Orton
but is exactly right about the limited role Tebow will play this year. Although overall I think he’s fair, his insights into the offense and McD’s thinking aren’t as impressive as his analysis of the defensive moves. That’s where he really nails it.

Good read…. He ruined it at the end for me though….
You can’t win a Super Bowl with Kyle Orton
I can’t stand. No. I loathe when people say Kyle is a ‘caretaker’, ‘game manager’, etc….
What I see is a tough NFL QB, who unfortunately, is a little too injury prone.
I feel if We see a full season from him (obviously, especially if We see some post-season play), many will change their tune about Kyle’s lack of super-star-ossity. If I’d a skipped the last paragraph, I’d be all smiles about the objectivity of that, it was a great read otherwise.

Kyle Orton is a game manager and a caretaker but..
There is nothing wrong with that and you can win a superbowl with a guy like that, just ask Trent Dilfer.
I think the only thing I'd like to ask Trent Dilfer would be
Do you have any cool Bucs memorabilia that my friend can have? ( ;
Alright that, and how does it feel to finally get that ring after being bounced around the league like that. That had to have sucked at times…. Especially the year with the Browns LoL.

I think its ignorant that people say Kyle can't do well in the post season
He go the Bears to the superbowl after they pulled Grossman in 2006. Then the Bears decided to play Grossman for the superbowl and Grossman gave it away. I honestly believe with the Bears defense back then, and KO as the starter, the Colts may not have come away with a win that Sunday!
But alas, we shall never know.
daaayuuuuum! you gonna take that KB?!? lol -Broncs55
Absolutely not. KB is a function of aggression and rage, the derivative of which can be traced back to my childhood.-KentuckyBronco

Agreed
And one thing’s for sure though.
Had Kyle played in that Super Bowl – he would not, I repeat, would not have been associated so easily with handles such as game manager or caretaker.
It would have either been way better or way worse (i.e. he’d be a super star or he’d be as worthless as Grossman is now – to ‘them’). Therefore We either wouldn’t have had the option to unload Jay and get him (especially with everything else the Bears gave up), or wouldn’t have had the desire to obtain him(?), but again, different dimension – so we can speculate ’til the stallions come home, but…. Not quite
Orton got the Bears to the playoffs in 2005, not the SB. They pulled him for Grossman when they played Carolina then gave up 3 TDs to Steve Smith.
In 2006 Grossman, not Orton, led the Bears to the SB.
Bill Walsh
used to make a distinction between QBs you could win with and QBs who could carry your team. Everyone craves the QB who can carry their team, but they are few and far between. The Broncos CAN win with Orton. He may never be a top 10 QB but he’s not far from being #11.

Key word in your last sentence
He may never be…
Like I said, I would be happy to hear (and perturbed at the same time because of the lack of integrity some people have) what many people would be saying about him after We win a Super Bowl with him at the helm.
But here as well, the key in my statement is would be. Wouldn’t it be hilarious if Orton ends the season leading the league in passing yards, TD’s and fewest INT? That would be hilarious to watch all the befuddlement. ( =
And no, I haven’t even had my medicated daily regiment of Kool-Aid yet, so just imagine if I had. ( ;

Good find, Spock
Thanks. I don’t think I learned a lot (and I doubt many MHR regulars did) but NFLer’s that aren’t familiar with the Broncos should learn quite a bit. It was a nice write-up

I have to be honest...
Some of his comments make me think he doesn’t actually pay attention to the Broncos. The least of it being the part where he says McDaniels hasn’t spoken about what he learned in his 1st season.

Nice find, nevertheless.

Not perfect but relatively fair
and detailed compared to most non-Broncocentric stuff that’s out there. That was the thing, that it wasn’t written by a Broncos fan but was still relatively positive and knowledgeable. This is the first time I’ve been back here since posting the link. I’d forgotten about it. Glad y’all enjoyed the article.

Wow! The best and least biased reporting I've read from the NYT in years!
Not much for us to learn from it, as another posted above, but it is pretty accurate for those who aren’t as familiar with the situation as we are.
Only issue I had was with him claiming a QB like KO couldn’t win the big one…..less qualified QB’s have won the big one before :)
