Robert Ayers Leaves With Apparent Arm/Elow Injury; Is OK!
There really are no words for what is happening. No word on the seriousness of the injury, but enough is enough, really!
Second-year outside linebacker Robert Ayers left the practice field Wednesday with an apparent injury to his left elbow/arm
According to the Post, however, Ayers took the time to talk to reporters after the practice, a good sign that he'll be fine.

Whew...
People get banged up in camp. I think us Bronco fans are holding our breaths anytime there’s even a whiff of another player going down.
I think the media is inciting hysteria
I am guessing that guys go back all the time during training camps to have things checked out. However, it seems now it is becoming immediate front page news, thus creating hysteria.

I agree...
I tweeted about just that on Saturday night when Decker and D-Thomas got hurt…The 24-hour news cycle has created a monster!

Right...
I think there needs to be some context. How many injuries is a lot? How many are other teams suffering?
Does anyone here have that contextual info to provide?
by charlesnelsonreilly on Aug 11, 2010 11:38 AM MDT up reply actions
Agreed.
It doesn’t help that we lost Dumervil so early. The mindset is: “Ok, who’s next, we can’t afford this, yada yada…”
Sure the media is an issue...
but the media isn’t creating the same issue with every other team. Even Rotoworld mentioned the Bronco’s bad luck in injuries this year.
The reality is that we are going through a tough stretch of injuries here. However, this is football, and teams compete as teams. It’s the fan’s hysteria about 1 or 2 players getting injured and then screaming… “There goes our season!”… that is the real culprit here.
I love Doom, but his impact on this team is no where near what Tom Brady’s impact on the Pats was a few years ago. Still, that team kept playing as a team and finished 11-5.
The sky is not falling folks… It’s just time to “Team Up”.

THIS IS THE BIG ONE ELIZABETH
Can’t…take…more…injury stories…
Thank God he’s ok. He’s having a good camp and we need him to step up this year.
Please God…stop hurting my Broncos! Take me! They don’t deserve this!

Whew!!!
Are these injuries coming from poor conditioning/ stretching, are the player pushing themselves too far, is this just bad luck, or should we just consider this a normal preseason? What do you guys think?
I go with bad luck....
we were as healthy as we have ever been last year, if I recall. I believe the staff is the same.
"Pain don't hurt" - Swayze (Road House) -- We miss you man!
Maybe that just changed
Good luck has to start somewhere, and Ayers being OK seems as good as place as any to start a good long streak of it.

I think you're right with at least some of the injuries
I mean Clady was diffidently a fluke. Torn muscles though tell me something else is going on.
by rollinthunder on Aug 11, 2010 11:11 AM MDT up reply actions
Remember... Doom sat out the off-season conditioning program this year.
You have to consider that possibly had something to do with a Torn Pectoral muscle. So you can’t neccesarily point the finger at the Training Staff on that one.
The only other injury that was a muscle pull/tear was Moreno, and honestly, Hammy Pulls happen almost everyday in practice at almost every camp. It is a part of the physical nature of the game.
The other injuries seem to be sprains and strains… all of which can happen to even the most conditioned and prepared athelete.

Yep
They’ve placed a BIG premium on conditioning, particularly stretching since McX got here – its been pointed out that Dumervil for example, declined the off season conditioning program. This may or may not have a correlation to his injury but it is food for thought.
Bust most of this just seems to be bad luck. Every year teams have guys go down in camp, and two or three teams just get the bug bad. Looks like this is our year. Luckily, so far all of these guys look like they’ll be back in time for the season, contingent on what happens with Branson.
I am keeping my fingers crossed. All of them.
You're either a fan or you're not.
by TheMastermind on Aug 11, 2010 11:13 AM MDT up reply actions
Yeah
At first i thought it might have been something to do with the strength and conditioning, but it not like it’s the same type of injury that is happening. Just some bad luck, with alot of good luck mixed in, because at least these guys will be playing come week #1.
See what happens when you guys say Denver sweeps K.C :P
Disclaimer: Comments above are not meant to be taken with a grain of salt.
Almost threw up..
in my office after reading the headline..That would have been a big blow to the team…does anyone know if someone put a course on the Broncos this year?
I hear Al Davis...

He does not!
He eats toddlers because they’re good protein. The curse comes from the 42 puppies he sacrifices daily.

umm…I certainly don’t want to think about Al Davis sacrificing 42 puppies!!!

They say a team gains their coaches personality.
I wish Bronco fans would, too. We need to take a lesson from McD and learn to be calm, wait for the facts, realize that there still isn’t a meaningful game for a month and we have still have time for everything to be ok.

I prefer to freak out over every little thing

Why does Madden suck at ranking the Broncos so much?
I did a quick survey of other NFL camps...
…and we seem to be about the norm; some teams have significant injury issues, others are sailing along relatively smoothly. I couldn’t find a single team that is completely injury free as we speak.
I’d say we’re about average.
What I worry about is injuries to positions with depth problems.
Ayers going down, indeed, would have been bad.
Maybe time to sacrifice a chicken
Pedro Cerrano style!

I'm going to the chargers preseason game on Saturday...
And I will be watching the game from the owner’s box. Maybe I should put a little curse on them. Anyone hav any ideas?

The most effective way to curse them
might be to perform a ritual sacrifice of a live Philip Rivers.

Why put a new curse on them when they already have a preexisting curse?

Just curious
Why would you intentionally want to go to a Charger game where the Broncos aren’t playing?

I HAVE to wear chargers gear, or street clothes as a stipulation
So street clothes it is! How am I going to get a goat? And how am I supposed to get it into the owners box? I know! I’ll get him a powder blue 17 and say it’s rivers’ girlfriend!

I went to SDSU and have friends that still live there, and they say saw Rivers' wife publicly dress him down.
Apparently they’re high school sweethearts and she has him quite whipped. It all makes sense to me.

Inasmuch
as you’re going to wake up with a hangover if you drank all night, players will get knocked around in training camp. Thankfully, Ayers has lived through it and will be all right. Every injury around here is ominous these days so our negative reaction can be expected.

I replied that we will be strong when opening day comes.
