Yay! More fodder!
This screams “warm body”. (As always, I hope he proves me wrong)

Maybe
You’re probably right but it could be this guy has been on the McX radar…after all, some of Pittsburgh’s second stringers would be starters on other teams.

who (which team); not what (player)
You make a very good point, BroncoCUbuffs. I had been noting which teams we’ve been ‘dumpster-diving’ from and there’s a pattern. Certain teams are much more likely to be the source of our pickups and I attribute this to the quality of their player evaluations along with their inability to add depth beyond a point because of the strength of their team. I don’t consider these player moves as imitative/derivative — i.e., made solely because the player came from a certain team — I treat them as an indication of agreement with those teams’ evaluations. Signs point to this GM staff being superior to what we’ve seen in the past.
"the megalomaniac view of oneself as the Elect, wholly good, abominably persecuted, yet assured of ultimate triumph; the attribution of gigantic and demonic powers to the adversary; the refusal to accept the ineluctable limitations and imperfections of human existence, such as transience, dissention, conflict, fallibility whether intellectual or moral; the obsession with inerrable prophecies…systematized misinterpretations, always gross and often grotesque." – Norman Cohn

That's my sense of it too
Yes, there is a strong sense this GM staff has substance to it. There’s an overall feel for the entire organization that the “picture” to build this team is crystal clear and exceptionally well thought out. I thought the days of building a team from the inside out were over but it appears the “team 1st” concept still lives.

Interesting
When Williams was on his flight to Denver Pittsburgh called him.
"Ben Roethlisburger is screwed up, he uses bathrooms for sex and golf courses for bathrooms." Unknown
Probably just a camp fodder but
its a bit unfortunate to see Greisen go after battling back from a injury. I know he hasn’t done anything to separate himself this year but that’s how it goes I guess. My guess is this Williams has little chance to make the team.

Goodbye, Greisen.
I thought he had a chance of sticking because of his ST abilities and now being healthy. Guess not. Williams must have something for the Broncos to be willing to part with Nick. (Or Griesen has been that disappointing.)

i am not surprised that Greisen has gone after the signing of Mays, who McD has already got running 1st team ST drills

Another Kentucky Undrafted FA Linebacker...
1. Wesley Woodyard
2. Braxton Kelley
3. Johnny Williams
Not sure what’s in the water over in Lexington, but it either creates a certain type of LB that fits our scheme, or the program is a training ground for NFL LB’ers for the future. Few are stars, but they seem to be fundmentally sound. I think he’s TC body count soon to be cut or sent to PS…

Something about facing… Tim Tebow every year?
Either that or training barefoot in the Kentucky Blue Grass. It’s true that people do sometimes walk barefoot in KY, but I think that the comfort of the grass has a lot to do with it. :)
And Doom is from Louisville. We can’t forget that.

Don't let L'ville or Kentucky fans hear you say that
There be a (real or imagined) rivalry there.
Besides, isn’t Doom from Miami originally?

I go to the University of Louisville and actually have lots of friends at UK. The rivalry is VERY real over here, but not so much for football.
If you wear red, don’t expect to walk into Lexington without taking some dirty looks or hearing some profanities… and vice versa with Louisville. The football programs rarely meet (being in different conferences and all), but college basketball is serious business in Kentucky and the yearly game is always sold out and always full of fireworks. Make no mistakes about it. :)
Oh, and yes. Doom did grow up in Miami and went to high school there before attending the University of Louisville.

Rich Brooks has been the coach at Kentucky the last several years
Before his pro stint he was head coach at Oregon, gradually building it up from a longterm doormat to a perennial power. Defense was his forte. When he was at Oregon he liked fast, athletic guys on defense, with man corners and blitzing linebackers. I imagine it’s been the same at Kentucky. (He retired in January.) Wesley is his kind of guy. What’s remarkable is how much playing time Woodyard gets considering he’s not McDaniels’ kind of guy. He doesn’t like undersized players. But he’s too good to keep off the field.

Anyone
who’s good enough for Rich Brooks is good enough for me. UK Wildcats always seem to do a solid job except for Tim Couch.

A good article ont he guy
Gotta say, mcdaniels is not just all about “choir boys” he’s certainly willing to give a guy a chance.
Only reason Braxton Kelly was cut, was cause he got injured…
Thanks for that
I didn’t read anything in that article that would cause me to think that this is a bad guy, or someone of low character.
Guess we’ll see.

WHAT!!!!
I don’t belive this roster move???
JK – I don’t know a thing about either guy….
Denver: 32-32 until we're not.
Greisen was/is a good STs guy.

Wondering?
I wonder if the move had to do with the fact that Greisen was 30 (Williams is 24), apparently wasn’t going to become a starter, and had little upside.
He was a pretty good special teams player, but it appears most of the LBs are.
While Haggan weighs 267 and Woodyard 222 (or hopefully now more) all of the other ILBs now weigh around 240-246.
If Williams has better than average speed (which Greisen and Mays don’t have) and can cover, he may have a chance.

I think he is in competition for as PS spot
It would make sense that they would want to have a Traditional Linebacker for the practise squad and I think that Devin Bishop and Williams are going to be competing for a PS spot. We’ll see if both any talent over the next couple weeks.
From Behind the Steel Curtain
“He’s not a great athlete and will struggle in space but he has some pass rush upside and is a punishing tackler. He’s had a troubled past but could be the kind of special teams demon that this team is looking for in the future.”
