We signed Bobby Humprey?

Denver: 32-32 until we're not.

by McGeorge on Aug 4, 2010 6:56 PM MDT reply actions

I agree.....

……confusing signing, based on his recent history. I guess McD thinks his value in short-yardage is worth the risk.

by wyodoc on Aug 4, 2010 7:14 PM MDT reply actions

What risk? There is no risk in this signing

If he acts up or dies drugs he gets cut immediately with minimal financial or team consequences

by black_knight101 on Aug 4, 2010 7:18 PM MDT via mobile up reply actions

Since we only know it was a two year contract

We don’t know how much money he’s going to make, so we don’t know if it is a minimal risk or not. Seattle cut him after already giving up picks and paying him, we’ll see how it goes.

He's like 230 lbs.

Why does Madden suck at ranking the Broncos so much?

He has gotten more in shape

by Topher Doll on Aug 4, 2010 7:23 PM MDT up reply actions

……looks like he’s still in shape at least – judging from those pictures!

by wyodoc on Aug 4, 2010 7:15 PM MDT reply actions

From ESPN
White arrived in Seattle tipping the scales at 219, but couldn’t make it work, despite being reunited with coach Pete Carroll, whom he starred for at USC.

The 25-year-old White is listed at 235 pounds in a release sent out by Denver.

Why does Madden suck at ranking the Broncos so much?

by ChristianL on Aug 4, 2010 7:24 PM MDT up reply actions

235 is what Tennessee kept him listed as...

…even though he spent much of his career with the Titans north of 250.

He admitted he was even over 280 at one point during the 2008 season.

I don't see how this is confusing at all....

We need another RB in the fold. LenDale has had some success but also some trouble. Based on the trouble, we can pay him with bubble gum and bottle caps. One slip up and he’s out the door.

Zero risk, lots of potential. This guy does has some success in his background.

Again, seems like a no-brainer to me.

BTW – you will notice that he still looks pretty trim. He slimmed down a lot last year and still seems to be in decent shape.

I agree

I see this as another Cedric Benson situation like last year.

We'd be the luckiest team in football if White turned out like Benson

I agree, sometimes luck happens.

It is unlikely that this will happen, but still, it is a possibility…..

Probably what the Bengals thought.

Wouldn't it be great if it did pan out?

It would be such a great story, the league would eat it up…….

A back whose career has been filled with disappointment, returns to play for the home team, turning not only his career, but his life around…..

by Dustin Maul on Aug 4, 2010 10:47 PM MDT up reply actions

Benson was also 25

But the Bengals have a better offensive line then we do, which has helped Benson succeed. I was a huge fan of White in Tennessee, and was pretty excited to see him go to Seattle, his style of play would mesh well with their other backs, but with his good relationship with the coach, already getting paid, and plus the fact that they traded for the guy, and they still cut him before camp, I think something must seriously be wrong.

ok

that was quick. i was more hoping for betts, but maybe his health didn’t check out. still, if white can’t go ‘til game 5, what’s the difference? this kid does have some weight/motivational issues as well. oh well, fingers crossed for my power back request. get it done already, lendale, we need ya

This might be a risky signing

but if KnowMo, Buck, and LenDale play to their potentials, we could have a great 3 headed rushing attack

Great contrast with Moreno. Now the Broncos can think about running it through the middle.

White can be the brusier back we were sorely missing...

Now Josh McDaniels can call his favorite 3rd and 1 to go plays up the middle

I think he wanted more money than Denver was willing to give.

ahhhh.....the plot thickens!

Seems like McX was really serious about getting another back. Suggests our other backs (after KM, BC, and SL) are not strongly impressing…I am still pulling for T Baker.

He probably wants to play for New Orleans

Wow, he's very big

He should play for the Broncos like he played for the Titans two years ago.

BTW, I was reading some comments on PFT, and uneducated people called McDaniels a hypocrite for this move because of his willingness to sign White and trade Cutler/Marshall. The situations are nowhere near the same. Cutler and Marshall didn’t want to be Broncos and their trade values never would have been higher.

I think this is a good move by the Broncos, but it’s odd that they picked up a guy who won’t be able to contribute for the first four games of the year. We’ll see how he does in the pre-season, I guess.

+1

I’m really liking this move!

I love that picture of Spencer Larsen shaking hands with White…..Welcome home, Lendale White!!

Hopefully he can have more runs like this as a Bronco! http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-cant-miss-plays/09000d5d80bc0ff4

Lendale White will bring BACK the Mile High Salute! ;)

Interesting thing I found out tonigth

Though I can’t confirm it, someone told me the salute is actually the sign for Bronco in sign language. Again, I can’t confirm it, but interesting if true.

Sign language

The sign for horse is in the same general area as the salute but it is not the sign for horse. My family and I use sign language regularly because my daughter is deaf.

Just an FYI

The QB position is set. Oops....maybe not!!

at arrowhead, no less

How sweet that is.

Well, here’s hoping for the best. I honestly don’t know what to expect. A 2-year deal was shrewd, in case he works out well, and no big loss if he doesn’t. At least he has experience and bruising, big play potential. If he can produce and stay out of trouble, this might be okay.

I like Josh. But I need Ws.

Hence the need to add some speed to our secondary :-)

The Chiefs will see a return to respectability in 2010, emerging as the front runner in the AFC West! ....And I'll quantify that however I choose. Ahem.

You certainly have it now!

It pains me that Eric Berry is back there now, but I sure love that guy as a player.

by broncosmontana on Aug 5, 2010 5:48 PM MDT up reply actions

Maybe not so odd...

…last year, the Broncos “faded down the stretch” as the season wore on, and the running game wasn’t able to “punch it in” regularly, which is not to even mention that it was said Moreno “hit a rookie wall.” With the rumors of Tebow and his legs being used in certain goal-line packages, and now with LenDale White only being available after the Broncos opening stretch, it appears that the Broncos might be building for a serious run when it actually counts the most…in November and December.

by 9798 on Aug 5, 2010 9:44 AM MDT up reply actions

I mentioned this on the other thread

I wonder if this opens the door for another move. If your backfield looks injury prone, Buffalo might have the answer. Marshawn Lynch could probably be had in exchange for one of our worst WR’s, maybe a DL or DB we are getting rid of. Perhaps Barrett? Conditional pick? Lynch’s trade value seems like it’d be quite low, but I have always liked him. I think you will see some team, not necessarily the Broncos, pick up Lynch early in the pre-season at a bargain price. The Broncos obviously have the need for depth.

A vision without a plan is just a dream. A plan without a vision is drudgery. But a vision with a plan can change the world.

by Sayre Bedinger on Aug 4, 2010 11:21 PM MDT reply actions

agreed

With the Bills letting Schoebel walk, Lynch could be had for for a DL or pick especially once Spiller signs…

by adub on Aug 5, 2010 12:55 PM MDT via mobile up reply actions

Hopefully

Moreno and Buckhalter are all right and Toney Baker continues to develop. I’m not sure how effective LenDale White can be, but it never hurts to have too much depth.

Welcome home LenDale

Great move & pick up hopefully now with the right support Lendale can find his way back to playing great football.

He is the power back needed for the red-zone, let Moreno & Buck run and let Lendale do what he does best score TD’s in the Red Zone. Can be what Broncos have lacked for years a power back and will definitely bring back the Mile High Salute aka T.D.

Moreno, Buck, White, and T. Baker…. Hall or Ball on practice squad
