I like the new rules on protection of defenseless players. Whether playing offense or defense, no player can be hit in the head or neck area. Also, when a player's helmet flies off, the play is dead and the ball will be in possession of the team who maintained last possession. (I only wish they'd mandate that players begin wearing helmets that fit, as opposed to the ones they wear now, which are too loose. That only contributes to concussions that a snug-fit helmet would help prevent.) Agree with the new OT rules to not allow a team to win by a field goal unless the other team has also had an opportunity to possess the football. A key phrase that is used consistently in the video for unnecessary roughness penalties is "potential discipline." Monetary fine? Ejection? Both? They don't get into the details, which makes one wonder what they will be.
