Remaining players from 2008
With the official release of Brandon Stokley only 13 players remain from the purge of Shanahan’s last team the 2008 Denver Broncos. There were 65 players that were on the game day roster. 52 of them are gone. Most of the players remaining are starters. Five of them are in the last year of their contracts. Champ Bailey is the most notable, but he will likely get an extension. Players that are likely to be gone after the 2010 season are Marcus Thomas and Wesley Woodyard. Ryan Harris is a very good right tackle, but he is very injury prone and may not be resigned if the team thinks they can find a replacement. That would leave only nine players from 2008. Daniel Graham and Eddie Royal are candidates to not be resigned after their contracts are up. Graham will be 33 and very expensive. Royal has already had replacements drafted in Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas. So in three seasons removed that would only leave seven players on the roster. That would be only 20% of the 53 man roster. If that isn’t rebuilding I don’t know what is.
