A prayer for McKinley
I don’t know what to say regarding the death of McKinley. I will reserve judgment on the exact cause of death until the police investigation is completed; however, regardless of the outcome, this is a tragic loss of a young man with his whole future in front of him. I feel that after the deaths of Darrent Williams and Nash that the spirit of the Broncos was ripped out of the team and in many ways the fire of Mike Shanahan was diminished. McDaniels has an inevitable position of trying to keep the path of the team steady under horrible circumstances, my thoughts and prayers obviously go to the McKinley family and all of his friends and people who’s life he was a part of.
Death and sudden death has a way of shocking us back into the reality of real life. I am not going to make some hollow statement that we should win for McKinley, look there are things more important than football games and whether we beat the Colts, or Jets or whomever. I have had family members affected by suicide and the family and children never really recover or are whole again. There are a host of nagging questions that haunt you the rest of your life and I hope that the McKinley family can find some measure of peace and healing with time. There are certain things you never want to have to experience, and losing a family member to suicide is one of the most brutal things to have to endure.
I wish I had some great words of wisdom, some words that could bring comfort and solace to all those who have had their hearts broken. If anything, hold those you call dear closer and realize that life is a precious and fragile thing. God bless and comfort the McKinley family and friends, god bless and comfort McKinley’s teammates and coaches, and god bless and comfort the Bronco Country in this dark time.
