Fire With A Focus....The Continuing Evolution Of Mile High Report

On the loose, I'm a truck
All the rolling hills, I'll flatten 'em out, yeah
It's herd behavior, uh huh
It's evolution, baby

We've come a long way.  This month alone we'll approach 500,000 unique hits and 1.2 million page views.  Tomorrow afternoon I am going to talk to one of my personal heros - John Elway - in large part because of the strength of this community.  I have always maintained that it is all of you that make MHR what it is.  For that, I thank you.

The same goes for those members that became contributors.  Those currently volunteering their time and those who came before them.  They have all had a hand in the tremendous growth.  I thank all of you as well, for without your help MHR could not become what it has became.

Every venture, be it in business or otherwise, has a time when it becomes clear that a reorganization is needed.  Sometimes that means a 'shaking of the tree' so to speak.  Others, it just means a closer look at how you do business.  I am sad to report I am not leaving, so that leaves the latter for us here at MHR.

The first day I started MHR, I wrote the following:

MileHighReport(MHR) is the ultimate independent resource for the Denver Broncos on the web. Along with MHR Radio, the official podcast of MHR, we look to provide hardcore Denver Broncos fans positive, independent insight about the Broncos, 24/7/365!

I added the emphasis.  Somewhere along the line, some of that got lost. Somewhere along the line I LET IT HAPPEN.  The line stops here.

MHR is going back to its roots.  No longer will Broncos Fans - members or contributors - be afraid to feel good about the team.  No longer will people feel intimidated that they will get attacked for trying to think outside the box.  Those days are over.

Call it what you like.  Call me a dictator, call me unrealistic, or a 'kool-aid' drinker.  Call me whatever.  It doesn't matter.  I bleed orange and blue.  I was sick of the negativity that permeated other sites - and this was back in 2005 and 2006 when the team was pretty damn good.  I wanted to create a website where Broncos fans of a like mind could come together.  That is what MHR was founded upon and that is what it will be again.

The days of being told what kind of fan I am - or dividing the membership into seperate groups based on the 'kind of fan' they are is over.  This site is for Denver Broncos fans - in good days and bad, in sickness and in health - until death do us part.

I support the Denver Broncos.  I supported Dan Reeves, Wade Phillips, Mike Shanahan and Josh McDaniels.  I am doing trying to justify that support.  I will never tell you what kind of fan to be, but this is MY HOUSE, and I CAN determine how you will act here.

If that means we take a step back, fine.  If that means I lose contributors or long-standing members, I'll understand that too.  I have to do what I feel is right.  Certain things going on here at MHR don't feel right to me.  I am going to fix them.

You all know the rules, and many of you have chosen to dance around them.    In case you have forgotten them, they are below.  Feel free to reference them.

Negativity takes many shapes - not just those who are critical of the team.  Intolerance is intolerance, and that won't fly here at MHR.

I know Game Threads can be emotional.  They are for me as well.  I am asking you to try and keep the language under control.

Yes, there are contributors here at MHR, but EVERY MEMBER is responsible for the behavior of the community.  If you see something you don't think is right, FLAG IT or send me an email - milehighreport@gmail.com

Lastly, I have closed the comments to this post so as not to have it hijacked by anyone that wants to push their agenda, or make this about them.  It is about community.  That is what MHR is.  Just like any other community there are standards at which we live by if we want to be a part.  MHR is no different.  If you want to be a part of the community we'd love to have you!  If not, there are plenty of destinations on the web that will welcome the negativity.

No hard feelings.

As always, I welcome your comments to me via email.  I am hoping those of you that have been lurking, not wanting to comment for fear of being criticized for your position, will do so now.  Criticism of the Broncos is ok.  Doing it in an immature manner is not.  There is a difference, and most of you know that.

It's not what you say, but how you say it.  Keep that in mind here at MHR.  Thanks for being members and thanks for sticking with us as we continually evolve.

GO BRONCOS!

Yours in Orange and Blue,
-John

MileHighReport.com is an independent website dedicated to the Denver Broncos.  We welcome fans of the Broncos to come to MHR and join other Broncos fans in talking about the Broncos as well as anything else that interests you.  We also welcome the fans of other teams to MileHighReport and welcome good-natured smack talk that can go on between fans of opposing teams.

What we will not tolerate at MHR is any personal attack on any member.  Have an opinion, state your case, disagree and debate, but keep it about football.  Please keep your comments about the topic at hand.  "Hijacking" a post will not be tolerated.

The Fan Shots and Fan Posts are yours!  Utilize them to make a point, get involved, or just to meet fellow Broncos fans all over the world.  We are a community, and like any community your are a part of we take care of each other.

Lastly,  please remember this is just a game.  Broncos football is a way of life for most of us but let's not lose sight of what we are here for and that is FUN.  Enjoy the site, enjoy the game and most importantly enjoy each other.

*  Any FanPost or FanShot with vulgarity in the title will BE DELETED, no questions asked

*  Any repeat FanPost will be deleted.  FanPosts that are nothing but Links, with text to meet the  75-word requirement will be deleted.  If you come across news and want to post the link, USE THE FANSHOT SECTION!  That is what it is there for!

*  FanPosts that are misleading will be deleted.  People come to MHR for their Broncos news and the integrity of the site will not be compromised because you want to be a stand-up comedian.

*  Any comments that personally attack any other member will be deleted and the member warned.

*  Any post or comment that refers to a player, coach or other prominent figure in a derogatory way will be deleted.  We are all adults, act like it.

*  Openly wishing or hoping that the Broncos fail tells me you are not a Broncos fan.  At that point you are a Troll and will be dealt with appropriately.  That does not mean you cannot be critical of the team, players, or coaching staff.

* What is a Troll??  It is kind of like how the Supreme Court described porn.  There is no real definition, but I know it when I see it.  There is a difference between someone being critical and someong being a troll.  I know the difference.

***IMPORTANT***  These rules are in effect for everyone.  Whether you have been with us from the beginning or are a brand new member, there is no favoritism here.  There are no cliques.  MHR has reached the point it has by being different than message boards, a cut above so to speak.  I will not let us become the RMN or DP comment section, or a message board.
