Sources: Cowboys RBs draw interest
I wonder if Denver is one of the teams inquiring for Barber for a power runner?

GREAT find
I would HIGHLY expect us to be one of those people calling.
I would love to get Choice, but at the right price.
Phonz for Choice….hey a guy can dream!
He is about 6 ft, 215 lbs. I like what he could bring to the table.

But I would expect our interest in Barber more due to his running style
Barber is a bruiser while Choice is more of a speed guy… But either would bring me more comfort
Good find
Rotoworld indicates:
Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas reports that the Cowboys are fielding trade offers from teams about Marion Barber and Tashard Choice. Watkins cites “multiple sources,” but one source tells ESPN’s Matt Mosley that the team will not trade Barber. It’s interesting to note that the story does not downplay the possibility of Choice being dealt.
So we may be calling for Choice this morning.

Choice, Barber or Jones FTW.
I love Dallas’ run game. All their running backs do something different. I’d take any of them in a minute.
Comparing Michael Lombardi to Bill Williamson is like comparing an In-N-Out Cheeseburger to a sh## sandwich.
Williamson would probably eat both – no questions asked.
Not happening…
The Cowboys love their 3 backs, and wouldn’t give them up cheaply. Barber and Choice are the only semi-possibilities, Jones is untouchable. Choice is the ultimate backup to the other two, Barber and Jones get injured early and often, so Choice is a necessity to their roster.
All that said, Choice would be a great addition to our roster, if we found a way to swing it. He’s pretty much a blend of the other two guys, he’s got good speed and big-play ability and runs with a good amount of toughness. He’s a very solid player. In fact, most Cowboys fans clamor for Choice to get more touches, most of the time over Barber, who isn’t quite as “barbarian” as he used to be. In fact, if there was one of these guys available for trade, it’s probably Barber.
I just read Horsepower’s post above mine here, and I find that Rotoworld rumor to be hogwash. They might be fielding offers, but it’s likely very high draft choices or a trade for a starting caliber offensive linemen, which practically no one is at liberty to throw around for a running back.
Fix the line, Moreno will be fine.
Think we could grab Choice for a 2011 2nd or 3rd round pick?
Choice could be a legit third down back imo, if we don’t pick up any more worthwhile RBs this season, we will probably spend another high pick on a RB in 2011 anyways

I would say "No."
It would make sense from the Broncos side but Jerry Jones is so caught up with winning in 2010, you would think any cowboy trade would have to end with the Cowboys being a better team in 2010. I’m going to agree with aLuffabo above that the Cowboys are probably looking for an O Lineman that can play in 2010 if they want to trade. The only way I think a Cowboy RB ends up in Denver is if we have one of those wacky three-way trades.

Would NEVER
give up a 2nd or 3rd round pick for a 3rd string back. Don’t care how good the roster is.

I wouldn’t trade a top pick for ANY third round back, but I would take a proven talent like Tashard Choice over a guy like Toby Gerhart, or most of the RBs coming out in 2011.
There’s an illusion that because RB’s picked in the 4th and 5th rounds sometime become impact players then there’s no reason to spend high picks on RBs. But just as many RBs taken in those rounds fail. One proven player in hand is always worth more than two rookie players in the draft.
That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Gartrell Johnson brought back to Colorado now that he was cut by the Giants. I don’t think a trade would be likely before the waived players get sorted out.

I wouldn't be surprised if
we called to see what they wanted. Barber has been the first string back all pre-season, so if anyone goes it will be choice. I wouldn’t imagine they could get more than a fourth round pick for Choice.

Gartrell Johnson just waived by the Giants
Source. No need to trade anyone (Smith) for Gartrell. Although some Giants fans were ok with this possibility.

I hope we bring him in.
He’d be a good power back.

Chad Simpson (Bills) also available
Simpson rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on 26 preseason carries, and also added 10 receiving yards on two receptions. He was part of an ugly-looking hit in which he and Cincinnati corner Brandon Ghee collided helmet-to-helmet, but he was fine, playing and scoring in the preseason finale.
Buffalo’s all set with their top three running backs, so Simpson was a longshot anyway.

Redskins waived RB Ryan Torain (for giggles)
Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan in Washington hears that Torain is headed to the Redskins’ practice squad. It’s no surprise that he went unclaimed as nobody thinks more highly of him than Mike Shanahan.
Ouch. They also waived Willie Parker who apparently has nothing left in the tank. No thank you!
