On Andre Brown
From a Fantasy Football perspective, granted, but thought this was cool. This is what ESPN's Christopher Harris had to say in his yearly deep Sleepers picks:
Andre Brown, RB, Denver Broncos. I've been talking up Brown for more than a year; he was a good prospect out of North Carolina State who got drafted by a team with tough competition at his position, and then he tore an Achilles tendon last summer. Normally, you wouldn't expect a running back to be able to come back from such a devastating injury, and the jury's still out on Brown, but if you watched him in the Giants' second preseason game, you came away impressed: 13 carries for 61 yards, albeit against the Pittsburgh Steelers' defensive scrubs. Brown was cut by the Giants on roster cutdown day but was quickly signed by Denver, where he might be in line for plenty of opportunities. Broncos starter Knowshon Moreno is battling a hamstring injury, and his backup, Correll Buckhalter, has a rather extensive injury past. Brown has plenty of upside. He's a big kid (230 pounds or so) who before his injury ran a 4.6-ish 40.
Thought this was cool because I've been interested in Brown before the Broncos even had him. I liked the Giants' Gartrell J, too, who was also cut, but Brown seems more the steal. Don't be surprised if he ends up an important part of the Broncos' year, esp given, as Harris notes, how Moreno and Buck have had their injury worries.

Nice. Thanks.

Tell me.......
Since Larsen is a FB, why is he not considered a “big back” and be able to carry in the short yardage plays? Otherwise, what’s the sense of having a FB?
and he also plays LB
and I get the sense the FB isn’t a big part of McD’s plans? He likes those two TE sets better. (Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.)
But I do see Brown as someone who can give them more muscle on the ground than they would have with just KnowMo and Buck.

That was long before his Achilles ruptured!!!

just about to say that
His run against the Steelers was pretty nice. Not as nice as the college ones, but still pretty nice.

I'M EXCITED BY THAT RUN!
Look how naturally the kid
1.) switches the ball to his outside arm when he is turning the corner (FUNDAMENTALS! and they look natural!!!!)
2.) still attacks the safety at the end of his run, even post-injury!
I have not been this excited about a waiver pickup in a long time! I have a GREAT feeling about him!!! 3 more days!!!!!!

Thanks for posting this, 'dog.
I’ve been wondering about this kid. And….frankly, I’ve been too lazy to look for myself! ;-)

Thanks for the post!
I’m concerned about RBs, especially, mainly because of not knowing how KnoMo and Buck will hold up. For what it’s worth, I looked this up a draft page on him here. They note his inside running, power, ball security, and blocking as positives. Makes sense why McD would go after him.
It does make sense, MakeCents :-)
Yeah I remember him at draft time actually then had sort of forgotten about him, and of course that injury. That is still a fair question, given how hard it is to recover from esp this fast, but it’s pretty clear he’s looking pretty good. I am very hopeful about this pickup, tho I hope he doesn’t have to get a lot of touches at first because that’d be a bad sign about the first 2 guys. But I bet he gets some 3rd down and goal line carries and does some relief work.

Nice
that can be something that takes awhile to heal too (I should know, as I’ve had it, too). So if he can be healthy and effective after both that and the achilles, it’s kind of a miracle. Lucky us!
