One Man's HC search scenario

Before I had the opportunity to look at the myriad of Bronco sites for up-to-date info about the search for a head coach after work todfay, I was beginning to feel that VP Elway was “rigging” the candidates so Rick Dennison could be the choice. If there was not going to be Gregg Williams, Ron Rivera or others interview, Rick may have been a finalist for the job. I am happy to see Gregg Williams is coming in on Wednesday, along with the snow delayed John Fox. I also read that the Broncos reserve the right to interview another 1 or 2 candidates based on results from this coming weekend’s NFL playoffs. I feel better and with an increased hope for a solid choice for our next HC.

The NFL playoff broke well for the Broncos so far (IMO). Seattle’s upset of New Orleans meant we could and will interview Gregg Williams for our HC (he’s one of my top 2 choices). I did find myself rooting for the Seahawks to win for this very reason and this is also why I’m pleased that Green Bay is playing Atlanta rather than the Seahawks. I feel Green Bay has a better chance to beat the Falcons than Seahawks would (but then again New Orleans was 10.5 point favorite last weekend). A Green Bay victory will give Mike "Mark" Mularkey to interview with B.E.E.X. on Monday (he is my other top choice). Today’s coaching search article in DPO hinted that they were done with round 1 after Wednesday BUT reserved the right to add 1or 2 coaches pending playoff results.

The NFL Network is saying Ron Rivera is going to Carolina and Pat Shurmur seems to be the Cleveland choice so there isn’t a lot of competition for the ones Broncos are looking at. Take an extra day and be sure this time around. If this plays out as I laid it out above the final 3 will be Mularkey, Dennison and Williams, although Perry Fewell might be a more conservative defensive HC alternative than Gregg Williams. I think by the end of next week we have a new HC and the building of the staff begins with strong OC and DC in place. This is how I see it playing out. I wonder if B.E.E.X feels the same way.

P.S. No Mularkey would mean Dennison; Williams/Fewell & John Fox are the 3 finalists

Scenario 1: Mike Mularkey HC

Scenario 2: Perry Fewell HC
