Patrick Peterson for President?

MHR is starting to sound like a LSU fanblog, and I know there has been A LOT of debate about what to do here, but here is my two cents....

At the number two pick overall, YOU DO NOT DRAFT FOR NEED.  That is what leads to busts.  Both Nick Fairley and Bowers have only had one really dominant season in the SEC and ACC respectively - sound familiar?  (Answer Robert Ayers - though I still am holding out hope with Doom he will fulfill his potential).

This high in the draft, you have to take the best guy available.  Peterson has been starting since his freshman year, runs a 4.2 40, and is a playmaker extraordinaire.  And I don't know where it is written in the rulebook that you cannot have two shutdown corners (Bailey and Peterson).  Yes, its a lot of cap room, but I think that'd make the D a little improved, wouldn't you say?  Two years ago, w Doom's pass rushing presence, Denver had one of the best secondaries in the league with Champ and Goody.  I think we'd be that much better off w Champ and Peterson.  And if Bailey leaves.......do you really want Perrish Cox (at best) as your #1 corner?  Elite pass rushers actually rarely come in the top 5 of the draft, (Doom, Harrison, Woodley, Ware, etc) so I think you gotta take the best guy.  I don't want Gaines Adams 2.0 or worse yet Haynesworth.  We should take the guy who seems to have the highest character overall AND the best athlete!  Thoughts??
