Posts From Around SB Nation: MHR University Edition
With the off-season under way, and mocks-a-plenty flowing through the fanposts section, and lots of talk about the changes that might take place, I thought it might be time to take the fans back to school. MHR University was a staple of MHR for a long time, and was largely done by Steve Nichols, along with help from others, both current and former staffers. If covered topics ranging from offensive line formations, position information as well as how to become a better member of Mile High Report.
There are over 50 articles written, and I would recommend you go spend some time in that section, just go to the home page and on the left will be a pull down tab, go to the bottom and there will be MHR University. Now I won't link all the articles here, but I wanted to make a few suggestions for your reading. These will mostly focus on the defense, because with the arrival of Fox, we could see some changes to how the defense operates.
So for learning, let's jump.
New Coaching and it's Affect on a Team:
On Field Ramifications of Head Coaching Chang
- This is a great article about what a head coach needs to do to get his team in order. Covers the locker room, offense, defense, as well as coaching and staffing choices. A great read if you want to know what Fox is likely thinking about.
Defensive Line and How They Work
- Steve does a great job in a series of articles covering the jobs and duties of the defensive lineman in the 3-4 defense. This articles helps explain terms like A-gap and a 3-technique lineman. Also looks at how lineman on both sides prepare to combat the other.
Football Formations
3-4: Position Responsibilities and Blocking Theory
The Denver Broncos 5-2 Formation
- These five articles do a great job of breaking down how these formations work, how our players would fit in, and what players we need to add to make then successful. The 5-2 article is especially interesting after I re-read it because our team is so build to run it, I wouldn't be surprised if Fox kept it around.
Well there you go, hope this was an educational post for you, and hope it can add some more quality and thought into an already good mock system as well as help members understand some of the changes that are going on with the team.

Thanks
I wasn’t a member here when MHR University was going on, so this is a nice find.
Orton, Tebow, Quinn, who cares as long as the Broncos win.
Steve Nichol’s (aka Hoosier Teacher) articles for MHR University are what brought me to MHR.
Thanks for re-posting the inks to these — great stuff. If you have never read them, I highly encourage you to take a look. They are well worth the time.
No problem
I joined when he was just stopping the series, but I’ve learned a lot from them. I wanted to make sure some of the newer members got the chance to read them.

The reason I started coming to SB Nation was to get more informed on the 5-2 formation, found a link on Yahoo! for it and got sucked in. My main reason now for coming here is to get better informed about football so that when I talk with my friends, or on this site, I don’t sound like an idiot as often.
