Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, who only started two games this season, was knocked out of the top spot to finish third, with New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees at No. 2. Since the NFL started compiling jersey sales stats for the 2001 season, a rookie has never finished the season as the best seller.

eh

considering he didn’t start until the end of the season, his jersey sales were quite impressive!

Not to mention, since they aired his special last night, I’m sure his jersey sales will start to move up at a higher rate than Brees/Polamalu

We’ll see by the end of the playoffs ~ not that it matters, although its nice to see more orange and blue across the nation in comparison to other teams regardless of what player they choose to wear!

In Tebow's defense

He wasn’t in the league in 2001 and Brees only played one game. So congrats to them on leading in sales regardless.

In Bena’s defense (or to his discredit) he just copied the article’s mistake. :D

What mistake is that?

The article states that no rookie has finished the season in the top spot since 2001, when they started keeping track of jersey sales. Or perhaps I’m not reading it right.

I thought BR1 was saying

IF he was a rookie in 2001, he might have beaten everyone out

but now i see what he meant

doh!

No you're not

I misread. Carry on :)

That’s crazy that jersey sales only started being compiled in 2001, though I suppose that’s about when the craze started. Can anybody remember when specific league-standard jerseys began being produced with player names on back? Jordan got it going in the NBA, but I don’t remember seeing many personalized Broncos jerseys in the stands when I was a kid.

There is one mistake though...

Even though I hate being that guy, Tebow did start 3 games this season.

thats what I'm saying

someone who is benched all year but he final 3 games carried the most jersey sales up until the post season.

That right there is impressive!

Curse you Troy Polamalu!!!

J/K. Troy’s an amazing player and a great guy, too, so he’s not hard to root for. Other than being a Steeler, and all.

Playoff team sales

skyrocket as the playoffs draw near. Tebow would have held his lead had the Broncos remained competitive. Girls buoyed Eli and Romo’s sales and Favre maintained the perv quota, but those three were in the bottom third of the top 12 and everybody else is on a playoff team.

Tebow’s increased role further angered his doubters, but it’s not as if they stuffed a bunch of his jerseys under a big coat, ran out of the store and had a bonfire.

Here's a thought...

Being on a winning team that is currently in post season contention probably has something to do with it.

People who buy jerseys are often motivated by such things.

If Warren Sapp is so damn smart, let him take the snaps.

it would be ironic for Tebow to be the passer with the most

Hail Mary’s in a single game (or season) wouldn’t it???? lol
