Broncos sign Four To Reserve/Futures Contracts
The Denver Broncos have signed former Boston College and Baltimore Ravens fullback Mike McLaughlin, offensive guards Shawn Murphy and Manuel Ramirez and offensive tackle Herb Taylor to their off-season roster.
McLaughlin is a 6' 0", 245 lb Undrafted Free Agent out of Boston College where he played at Middle Linebacker. A two-time defensive captain, Mike
bounced back from a torn Achilles that he suffered in the spring to start nine games for the Eagles in 2009. Lacking the speed and quickness needed for an NFL LB, he was converted to Fullback where his hard-nosed work ethic and toughness maximizes his abilities. Mike was born May 11, 1987.
Murphy is a 6' 4", 314 lb Guard who played at Utah State. Originally drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 2008 NFL Draft, the 4th round pick has played for the Carolina Panthers and appeared in one game for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Viewed as a developmental player, Shawn is a versatile, but raw athlete who has played at Tackle and Guard relying more on his athleticism and grit than strength. Born December 17, 1982, he is the son of former Major League Baseball player Dale Murphy.
Ramirez is a 6' 4", 330 lb. Guard who played for Texas Tech where he was a 4-year starter in a top three passing offense for the Red Raiders. He has the distinction of owning the Bench Press record at Texas Tech (550 lbs). Manuel was selected in the 4th round of the 2007 Draft by the Detroit Lions with the 117th overall pick.
He spent last season backing up RG Stephen Peterman and was on the Inactive list most weeks. In October 2010, he was waived. Ramirez was born on February 19, 1983.
Taylor (6-foot-3, 295 pounds) is a third-year tackle who entered the NFL with Kansas City as a sixth-round selection (196th overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was waived by the Chiefs at the end of 2009 training camp. Taylor appeared in 18 games (1 start), including all 16 contests in 2008, with the Chiefs. As a rookie in 2007, Taylor played in two games, was declared inactive for 11 games and dressed but did not play in three outings for Kansas City. He initially signed with Denver on Dec. 9, 2009 before being waived on Dec. 19 and re-signed 10 days later. Herb never saw the field for the Broncos. He was born September 22, 1984.

Dear Mr. Elway, Xanders and Bronco Fans worldwide,
As a life long Bronco fan I believe that we need to keep everything in perspective. Josh McDaniels put himself out on a long limb and rolled the dice too many times. With that being said there is a lot of positives that he brought into the building that was over shadowed by the very rough and dramatic wheeling and dealing. I sense a panic and we to do not need to panic at all. With a 4-12 record many will argue that we need to over haul everything but the reality is that football is a game of inches. We need a steady hand at the wheel and the front office should interview close to 10 candidates before we make that very important decision.
I watched the last 3 games again very carefully and I believe that if we took the field right now with the staff and players currently in the building we could very easily make the playoffs.
The biggest loss this past off-season was Mike Nolan. I like Wink and have a lot of respect for him as a coach. He has progressed a lot as a coach over this last quarter of the season but "continuity" on the Defensive side of the ball is something that should be on the very top of our priorities. DJ and Champ have had to learn a new scheme every year since we went to the AFC championship game in 2005. That is not a recipe for success for any team.
We need to take the desperation completely out of Dove Valley. We are not desperate for a coach or for players. We do not need to pay 8 million dollars to someone who has never coached in the NFL. We also need to keep our strategy close to the vest. No more press conferences or public speaking. Xanders and Elway should turn off the TV, computer and phones…shut the door and read "The Art of War."
We need to bring in someone who commands respect. A Dick Lebeau could be the perfect candidate for us and he should not hear his name through a press conference or ESPN. I think we need to let the world come to us because announcing that we are interested in someone who may or may not be interested in the Job is not making it any more attractive. Everyone (Fans included) needs to take a deep breath. Maybe focus our attention to Loyd, Woodyard, Thomas, Prater and Champ until the playoffs are over.
I think Elway will do a great job in the front office. First lesson is to not let the outside world (Press and Fans) dictate our decisions. We need to get a feel for the market and focus on being fundamentally sound both in the office and on the field. –Go Broncos

Xanders is moving a lot early
I wonder if this played a role in his being retained this year. These players can be picked up early, before other teams negotiate them. We would have been out of the running if we were still searching for a GM that then had to familiarize himself with out team.
ps..even if we only find one jewel in the mire
that is one more, and would not have been there 2 weeks from now.

It may be a reach......
to assume that any of these guys will be players next year. Value is that they are tackling dummies and space eaters…..
But. there may be one or two in there. Never know….
McLaughlin I remember
and liked what I saw of him. I would be surprised to see him gone as he does a lot of things quite well!

Tebow qualifies as a real fullback
according to en.wiktionary.org/wiki/full-back
full-back – A player who plays on the left or right side of defence; The player who wears the number 15 jersey at the start of play. The last line of defence responsible for catching punts
of course we all know a fullback is:
(football) the running back who plays the fullback position on the offensive team
therefore, anyone slotted in that position is a real fullback. I could be a real fullback if I were slotted there.
Quick…. where’s Jerry McGuire???? SHOW ME THE MONEY BABY!
