Like many of you, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the second half yesterday. There is one thing about Tebow that transcends everything else: he makes his teammates better.
He's a great scrambler, and I believe will be a good passer as well. But consider the difference in his teammates.
1. Have you ever scene Moreno run everyone over after catching a short pass like that? Last week we were laughing at his falling off an exercise bike; but with Tebow at the helm, Moreno was a monster on that play. Something lit a fire under him (finally) and that something was TT.
2. Watch the O-Line on Tebow's TD run. They gave Tebow a lane that allowed him to run untouched to the endzone.
3. I believe it translates to the Defense also. They seemed to step up their game once Tebow entered. Despite a couple 3 and outs by the O early in the 3rd Q, the defense was incredible in the second half. Again, they elevated their game. Consider some stats:
1st half SD gained 304 yards and scored on 5/6 possessions.
2nd half SD gained 157 yards (38 on the ridiculous pass to Floyd) and scored FGs on 2/6 possessions.
Tebow is infectious. That is true of all the greats, whether Elway, Jordan, Magic, Favre, etc. Tebow is a lot like a young Elway, from both a leadership perspective as well as statistically at this point in his career. Elway wasn't the most accurate passer either at this point, but he got better over the years. Here's hoping the Tebow era started yesterday.
