Was this all part of a bigger plan that failed?

My head has had too much time to think with the bye week, so it has wandered into conspiracy theories.  Is it possible that the plan all along was to let Kyle Orton play the first few weeks of the season against the "easier" portion of our schedule just to make him look better for trade bait?  The FO tried to trade him before the season, so isn't it possible that the "best chance to win" didn't mean the best chance to win games, but the best chance to win a trade?  However, since Kyle underperformed this season we now cannot trade him at all.

Maybe I just think too much....
