This assumes, of course, that Tebow doesn't pan out. I hope he does, but the fact I'm puzzling about this on a Tuesday morning kinda indicates I'm worried. I wouldn't ever do this for any other position than QB, and I would need to be really, really certain. And I would need to honestly consider the risk -- no matter how certain hyou are, there's about a one third chance the guy will bust, one third he'll be serviceable, one third he'll shine. But the problem is, maybe other than a hockey goaltender, is there another sport where one guy can so completely carry a team? An average draft nets you maybe two rock stars, three journeymen and two washouts. weigh that against a one in three of an elway, another one in three of a good but not great qb (thinking of comparisons, hasselback maybe?) and one in three of ryan jamarcus leaf russell and your name, as GM, burning in the hall of shame. Personally, I think I's take the shot.
I think I would.
Hope we don't have to.
