When we drafted Von Miller over Marcell Dareus in round 1, Rahim Moore and Orlando Franklin over Marvin Austin and Stephen Paea in round 2, and Nate Irving over Drake Nevis in round 3 of this year's draft I thought we'd do everything in our power to get Barry Cofield, Brandon Mebane, or Cullen Jenkins in free agency. For some reason we didn't and now that reason is becoming more and more apparent.
As fans we're directing our anger at coach John Fox for starting Kyle Orton over Tim Tebow when we should be directing our anger at Pat Bowlen for being cheap. The Broncos have $25.4 million dollars in cap room (4th highest in the league). That's not going to cut it when teams obviously have to spend money to win in the NFL; the Patriots only have $8.3 million in cap room, the Packers only have $7.5 million in cap room, and the Saints only have $4.2 million in cap room. If we want to get back to the playoffs Bowlen is going to have to open his checkbook, instead we're settling for low quality players like Cassius Vaughn.
