That game last night was hilarious. Seeing the pained look of defeat on Rivers face never gets old. Now they get Green Bay on a short week…

They could be 4-4 at the midway point. Typical Paper Tigers except this season, their schedule gets a lot harder in November and December.

Oh there will be many delicious tears drunk here in San Diego next week.

I caught some flak from co-workers after Denver got owned by GB and I told the lone Packers fan that the Bolts fans just don’t know what’s coming. They have this strange delusion that because they’ve dominated this weak division for so long that they are in the same league as the NFL’s elite. They’re about to find out how wrong they are.

We'll beat the Raiders.

They’re a mess at QB right now so that playing field will be level and if the rest of the Broncos roster isn’t chomping at the bit to redeem themselves after being embarrassed in front of God and everybody, then they have truly quit on this season. I said we’d split with the Raiders before the season started and I’m sticking to it.

If Tebow can eliminate the three and outs, there is no telling what will happen. He is best in a groove, in the red zone and in short yardage.

Can’t do what you do best unless you move the ball early and in-between the 20s.

Hopefully he also hits a big play or two. Should make a huge difference if any of these things happen. Detroit had a ton of players in the box and several 6 and 7 man pass rushes. McCoy, Tebow and his WRs need to adjust.

That is not true

The WRs also need to create separation. That fault lies with both the QB and WR.

DT and Royal are playing terrible ball and Decker was getting owned by V Davis in Miami. Tebow needs to throw a better ball and our WRs need to learn how to get some separation. Our guys can’t get open vs one on one coverage nor are they making plays on the ball outside of Decker.

Teams are daring us to throw deep, but we don’t have a deep threat right now. DT’s injury, rust and other factors with his play are problematic.

by McGeorge on Nov 1, 2011 8:40 AM MDT up reply actions

Decker isn't #1 WR material

Doesn’t have the speed to get separation, DThomas is still hurt or doesn’t give a crap. It’s hard to see Dez Bryant making plays when we took the lame Thomas instead…

I have no idea why McJedi ever felt the urge to trade up for a 1st round WR at the 2010 NFL draft to begin with.

I don’t think it’s a conversation between Bryant or D Thomas. I’d rather we spent that pick on defense. Just draft Devin McCourty (CB) or Brian Price (DT).

Decker is very good #2 WR material. Every good team has ten+ Deckers on their team (good, but not great starters).

We have three. Decker, Kuper and Robert Ayers. It’s reason #1 our team doesn’t play complimentary football. We have a few studs and a bunch of below average players.

Kuper has been a bright spot

At times it looks like he’s playing bad, but having Walton (who’s getting better little by little) and Franklin he’s probably an island most of the time.

We need at least 7 more Kupers and these guys are usually found in rounds 3 to 6, which is where we usually draft Seth Olsen, Parrish Cox, Eric Olsen, Carlton Powell and David Bruton.

Well we have a 5th round pick so we didn’t let him go.

What matters now is if we turn that pick in to a Chris Kuper or a Kenny McKinnley (whom was on the verge of being IR/waived before his unfortunate death).

We’ve been a really bad drafting team and it’s F’d up our roster to the point that we try to pretend below average players (Moreno, Bruton) so-so (M Thomas, DT, Royal) players are good players. The results on the field speak of themselves.

So many starters on this team are riding the pine almost anywhere else.

Goody, Dawk, Mays, our entire d-line after Doom who hasn’t been so hot lately either. Our entire O-line besides Kuper and Clady, all of our receivers and backs, and our starting QB should probably be holding a clipboard on a team with an established QB who has 3 or 4 years left. But at least our kicker and punter look good, Champ has a couple years left, we drafted a legit young LB in Von and we’re still in wait and see mode on the rest of the guys we drafted.

As the ancient Tibetan Philosophy states "Don't start none, won't be none!"

by MrFNSunshine on Nov 1, 2011 9:40 AM MDT up reply actions

I think Decker, Kuper Clady, Ayers, Elvis, Von, DJ and Champ are starters on most teams.

Most of our other starters are backups elsewhere. Guys like Vaughn, Wilheight, our entire backup O-line, Mays, Bruton, Ball and Rasairo don’t even make most teams.

I don’t think we have a legit starting QB on our roster either, but I guess I’ll hold out hope for Tebow one more week before Fox pulls the plug.

where are the screen passes and quick flares? Those passes require little to no read and should keep the D honest. Ideally 5-10 yard quick slants are the counter to do this, but that’s where Tebow really struggles.

Kirk,

the issue is we see very little adjusting to the schemes we are seeing. We are not good enough to impose our will on any team in the NFL at this point. So with that being said they need to make adjustments to the coverages/ schemes.

Unless we are just soo over matched on both sides of the ball that we just need to take beatings until we can get some talent on the roster.

The story has been the same all year including the preseason going back to last year. the offense is stagnant at best and cant execute in the red zone.

Its been the same story all year long, eventually the coaching should be able to figure out how to adjust and if they cant they need to question the caliber of job they are actually doing.

Demaryius Thomas and Eddie Royal

Have been playing like they want the season to end… I’m not sure why Royal has regressed so much, but DThomas is a dangerously close to being a bust. Even though Dez Bryant is a nut job, at least he runs good routes and has the “I want the ball” mentality that Thomas doesn’t have.

Eddie shouldn’t be re-signed next year, and again WR is going to be a big need next year…

MOZGOD Member #35

by CombatChuk on Nov 1, 2011 8:43 AM MDT reply actions

Eddie continues to play out the string with this attitude of “get me to the off-season healthy so I can sign a one year incentive laden contract with a passing team with a better QB”.

I can’t blame him, but I don’t think we’ll miss him. I contend we still traded the wrong disgruntled WR.

Listening to John Elway on the radio...

It’s clear to me that Tebow is gone next year… Tebow will probably be traded next year (no more Tebowmania in Denver). Get used to the idea of Matt Barkley or Landry Jones as QB going forward. Maybe sign a vet as a backup.

I didn’t think so. Leinart didn’t improve between his Jr. and Sr. seasons.

Barkley is a better prospect than Leinart. He has less talented teammates, worse coaching, but better skills/head on his shoulders.

I hope Denver has scouts on him vs just hoping against hope for Luck.

by isiddiqi on Nov 1, 2011 11:21 AM MDT via mobile up reply actions

I think EFX would like to see Tebow fail so they can draft their own QB.

I think they could get aboard the Tebow train if Tebow gave them a reason. We’re just not seeing much of that reason.

I hear Tim (and Orton for that matter) can’t hit open WRs consistently in practice.

It’s like basketball. If you can’t hit 60% of your open shots in an empty gym, you won’t hit close to 60% of them in a real game with defenders.

sure, but you’d need to add some juicy bits, too. the one that hasn’t been done in a long time is the old beatles “paul is dead” idea. like if shanahan got pissed about the ‘this one’s for john’ proclamation, masterminded a secret coup in which the real pat bowlen was replaced by a look-alike, somewhat glitchy robot who gets stuck on saying suspicious things like “(so and so) is the second greatest bronco of all times!”

mad scientist shanahan then has all organizational income funneled directly into his lavish cherry creek mansion-slash-steakhouse until the broncos are bone dry (ellis is only a pawn). at this point shanny purposely wires glitchy pat bowlen to fire him, his own creator, (see apple, Jobs) at the perfect moment, allowing the mastermind to move on to greener pastures where money flows like wine.

Will another team trade for Tebow?

Even the handful of teams who might be willing to take on the Tim Tebow Experience would probably just wait for the Broncos to cut him.

by Broncologist on Nov 1, 2011 11:43 AM MDT up reply actions

It sounds to me that John Fox is going to make a 'pocket' passer out of Tim Tebow or bust a gut trying...

So Tebow’s the starter ‘for’ this week…What happens if we lose? Orton back in there? And, for what? Or would they put Quinn in there? Either way this season is just about over for any chances the Broncos might have so why not let Tebow finish it out and let him develop into that passer you want him to be? Quit threatening the him and the media and let them know that he is the guy!

Starting Quinn is idiotic and only proves this team is directionless

They haven’t been building towards anything since firing Shanahan. McDufus was an 18-month failed experiment in trying to convert what few assets the team had left into a win-now program.

Since firing any head coach less than 3 years into his tenure indicates it was a bad hiring to begin with, in the four years since Shanahan was here this team has, generally speaking, added no talent to what they had in 2007 and have regressed in several other areas. The Broncos are probably one of the worst three, if not worst over all, teams in the last 5 years at adding value via the draft.

Tebow is still a work in progress but at least it is a direction for this year to try and develop SOMETHING, anything. Giving Brady Quinn snaps is just throwing time away. Quinn will not be here next year and I’d say that other than our club nobody is even looking at him as a backup.
