The fact that we ran the ball 55 times was indicative of a bad Chiefs run defense and a conservative coach getting EXACTLY what he wanted. We ran well with our #1 rb until he got hurt. Then we ran very well with our#2 rb(I think Mereno "likes" the chiefs) until he got hurt. At this point Fox was probably thinking we need to start passing more(much to his chagrin), but we still ran well with our QB and our #3 rb, so Fox did exactly what he wanted to do. run, run, maybe pass...no never mind run it again.
Like or hate the run game, it was going VERY well and we dominated the game(even though the score doesn't show it) thanks to the run O, and the Defense. Running the ball 50+ times is MUCH safer than throwing 50+(that usually results in 3 or 4 int's)
The argument is whether this was a "our Qb cant throw so..."(fox said it wasn't) I don't think it was either. Fox likes to run and if he can turn the clock back to 1918 and run every play....who here thinks he wouldn't do that?
we won and thats what MOSTLY matters. The team needs to be evaluated to see if we can continue to win. This was a smart game plan cause it worked for one week...the chiefs stacked the box and still couldn't stop the run, and when the time was right we went deep and got an "easy" TD. However the team needs to evolve and use that run game to pass more. Instead of moving EVERYONE in close, leave a WR out wide for a quick slant, or a deep threat for when Tebow options out and he can run OR have someone to throw too. The naked bootleg can be a beautiful thing under Tebow.
