Rookie Miller the quiet motor behind Broncos' recent success
And in other non-Tebow news from Denver ...
Rookie linebacker Von Miller's a keeper, and while the mania over Tim Tebow's play is the talk of the Rocky Mountain region, the Miller-led Broncos defense is the real reason why they've been able to come back late in scintillating games. And if the 5-5 Broncos are to stay in the AFC playoff race in the last six weeks, they'll need more of what Miller did against the Jets last week, starting Sunday in San Diego.

That's a great article
Von has been a terror. I wouldn’t have drafted anyone else at that pick.
elite skills
Tebow-mania draws fans’ interest but Miller has quietly been demonstrating he has elite ability. At this point, I’m not at all bothered by the 2010 collapse. Elite players are often impossible to obtain without the decline that entitles the team to select in the top five or ten. We haven’t had that privilege and our AFC West competitors have. Rebuilding the team required that obtain elite talents somehow and getting lucky in the draft wasn’t ensured.
I’m a big fan of Dennis Allen so I won’t take away from his coaching but coaching depends on personnel and we have two elite pass rushers that we didn’t have last year. And any side-by-side comparison shows what a huge difference this makes. There are other aspects to our recent defensive improvement, too, such as Bunkley, but this is frequently the story of how a rebuilding team improves. Unit success follows individual success but the improvement is not merely an additive effect.
******* George Santayana described fanaticism as -- "redoubling your effort after you've forgotten your aim"
Welcome to Reality Posters. Tim Tebow is NOT the reason for the season.
Take a look at the front page and listen to the talking heads and they are just now saying what I’ve been saying for over a month now. Tim Tebow is the main reason for the Tebow heroics for over a month now and that this run has been much more of a team effort.
Lets recap. We can all thank Tim Tebow for the victories and rejuvenated Broncos but he’s not the first guy we’re going to thank.
I realize that turkey day has past but we’re going to start by giving thanks to Pat Bowlen for firing Josh McDaniels, we’re going to thank the FO and coaching staff for holding Tebow’s hand and playing to his strengths.
While we’re at it we should personally thank John Fox and John Elway for putting together a mature knowledgeable coaching staff that has made proper football decisions and made the most out of the disaster that Josh McDaniels left them. This is not a popular gesture here at the MHR for some unknown reason. I’ll assume it’s because EFX did not hand Tim Tebow the starting QB job in August and some folks are still bitter that Josh McDaniels didn’t “get enough time to work his magic on the Denver Broncos”.
Three replies. That’s funny. If it was an article on how Tim Tebow has magically turned around a flailing embarrassment to the NFL there would be two hundred and three replies by now on its way to being the most popular post in MHR history.
Victory is sweet, even deep in the cheap seats.
"Take a look at the front page and listen to the talking heads and they are just now saying what I’ve been saying for over a month now."
And no one is listening to you, either.
...and then the Broncos rose from the ashes
Tebow has managed the game and has not turned the ball over . . .
But the primary reasons for Denver’s success belong to the defense and special teams. Against the Chargers yesterday, the Broncos’ overtime win was at the hands of Von Miller (and Willis McGahee). IMO, Miller is fast developing into the best defensive player in the league. He is not alone on that defense, of course, but he has been the catalyst, IMO.
BILLY THOMPSON GOT SHAFTED!!
Really?
The same defense and special teams we had with Orton? It’s amazing how all of a sudden the team was transformed AFTER Orton was benched…. hmmm, I wonder what the catalyst was?
...and then the Broncos rose from the ashes
Why.Do.Some.People.Always.Bring.Up.Orton?
What does Orton have to do with this? Is that just an extension off Tebow-worship or what? Wow.
Even more, what does Orton have to do with Von Miller? I give Miller some praise, and I get back Orton.
Just wow . . .
