Astronomical odds
1) Not that the SD Chargers would lose to the GB Packers at home but the odds that Philip Rivers would throw 3 interceptions, 2 of them run back for touchdowns +
2) The Kansas City Chiefs winners of 4 straight would be blown out at home by Miami Dolphins who heretofore had gone winless after playing 7 games this season +
3) Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos going into Raiders' stadium and not only winning but scoring 38 points +
4) That Tim Tebow would run for 100 yards, the first time any Broncos' QB had done it since 1976 and that Tebow and McGahee would both run for over 100 yards the first time it has been done since 2006 (Michael Vick and Jarious Norwood)
Which would result in the AFC West standings to be thus today:
SD Chargers 4-4
Kansas City Chiefs 4-4
Oakland Raiders 4-4
Denver Broncos 3-5
Truly unbelievable what happened yesterday in the NFL.

a few of your points
on #1. Hasn’t Phyllis Rivers thrown a lot of interceptions the last couple games?!? I hope that is the new MO of San Diego!!!
on #2. I said last week Miami was a better team than their record. I also said “no much better though”. They really look like an average team that just hasn’t been able to put anything together – well – looks like they finally did. KC probably went into the game with no doubt that they would win – I mean, who actually picked Miami to win in their pools? I can’t think of any of the 50 people we have in ours that picked them.
on #3. I didn’t think it was going to be a blowout. I was hoping we’d win, but didn’t think we would. I thought it would be a lower scoring game though. So glad Tebow is back to being polarizing again! I don’t believe the organization was planning on going with Tebow, however with Fox molding the plays to support his strengths, he’s making Elway’s job’s rougher at getting the next great thing out of college – especially if Tebow can string a few more wins. They may be forced to going with Tebow after this year if he can muster near an 8-8 season. I would suspect if Tebow can bring 7 wins to this team this year, they may stick with him.
Q: Where do you go in Miami in case of hurricane?
A: To Dolphin Stadium - they never get a touchdown there.
KC was just exposed as over hyped. None of their four wins were impressive.
They beat the Colts. Wow. Won a home game over a terrible Viking team. Wow. Got lucky at home in winning vs another massively overrated team in San Diego and they got a gift win over Kyle Boller and Palmer after Campbell was injured the week before. I doubt KC reaches 8 wins this season.
Seeing Rivers self destruct is very very enjoyable. They still have games at Detroit, Chicago and a home game vs Baltimore. They could easily lose 7 games in the regular season.
Tim Tebow's career record is 3-3. He is the worst 1st round pick EVER!!!! He is embarrassing!!! Did I say that with enough conviction to get a job with ESPN?
I agree with that
KC is overhyped – so is the entire AFC West (meaning San Diego and Oakland). I don’t think they are a better team than Miami, however their records indicate otherwise.
And I’m with you, nothing brings me greater joy than watching Rivers in meltdown mode :)

1) We’ve seen Phillip Rivers falter on occasion in the past when pressured. He gets that “deer in the headlights” look. I think his O-Line is allowing more pressure to reach him and the San Diego receivers are playing at a mediocre level this season. Both of those are leading to Rivers having possibly the worst season of his career. As a Broncos fan, I couldn’t be happier. Rivers has always been a big mouthed, low-life and it’s great seeing both him and the Chargers choking on their bad karma cake.
2) Todd Haley and the team he has built in KC are poseurs. They fell into the division title last season and fell shortly thereafter out of the playoffs. When a division becomes as bad as the AFC West , possession of the division title can fluctuate regularly until teams stabilize their talent levels. You’re right about the Chiefs being exposed, but I think that happened earlier in the season, before they took on an Indianapolis team content to throw games in exchange for a high draft pick. The Chiefs are exactly who we always thought they were and that gives this Broncos fan belief that we have a chance to burn them at Arrowhead.
3) I’m as happy as a pig in sh…er…I’m pretty excited that the Broncos laid a the smack down on the Raiders! That the Broncos stuffed it to the Raiders in Oakland’s own den f iniquity made the moment so much sweeter. For Tim Tebow, this was the perfect way to shove it in and snap it off in the fat mouths of all the haters. Merril DuAine Hoge, how does it feel to be so wrong, again? EFX take note : this fan expects to see, at least, as much organizational and PR support for your current starting QB as you lavished on the last one.
4) The Vick led Falcons were always exciting to watch and became one of the top franchises in the NFL with their unconventional format. The Broncos could be poised to mirror that success if the top brass seizes the moment to exploit and develop that opportunity. However, as in Atlanta, there will be Luddites actively trying to tear down what they can’t understand and remake the team in their own staid image. I’m not pointing fingers, but I think it’s clear where the problem is when we hear organizational statements with reticence and faint praise.
I agree that the odds were against us this weekend, but look at us now, just one game removed from the divisional title hunt! As you’ve noted, the schedules of our rivals will be getting harder in the weeks to come. This is a good thing and a great way to start a Monday…:)
We'll get along better if you just admit I'm right
That's why football is the greatest game...
Btw, thank you Mr. Palmer for putting Champ back to the path of INTs. LOL
