Yeah, I coulda lived with a Plummer picture...

But then, some could argue, that would be proving the point of 16 being too few.

I say 6 instead of 16 was definitely too few, in that argument, but hey, that’s just me ( ;

Intrigued could be the word, I did want to see him perform in preseason before he got hurt.

He is very fast for his size, but has ball handling difficulties. He could be that downhill runner Fox loves and the Broncos need. It’s just the health issues that have me concerned with his durability. I guess with a whole offseason to rehab and learn he might make a splash and not cause us to draft a RB high. Looking at our roster, I am more and more inclined to believe we either stretch (move) up for a great CB prospect or DT in the first. Does anybody remember Frank Minnifield? Chase Minnifield, Frank’s son is a CB out of Virginia I’ll be watching in the Bowl games…

If he (Fanin) turns out to be the real deal

then drafting RB may not be a high priority for EFX and we can get some more defense in (CB, DT, LB) and prob another WR maybe?? That would be awesome for us going into next season! First let’s beat the Bills and enjoy the Chiefs beating the Raiders and we’re AFC Champs! Go Broncos!!

No Problem!

I agree with you completely bfree, we need CB and DT both ideally out of the first round. Personally I would like us to get a top tier CB in the first round and then DT but we really need more help on defense!

by aj fischer on Dec 21, 2011 10:39 AM MST up reply actions

At the pick we chose (21-32) our choices are limited from the so-called elite CBs that will probably go before us.

One player has gotten my attention, CB Chase Minnifield UVa. 6’0 185lbs (ideal) height and should add a few pounds of muscle in the future. Plays man and zone coverage and teams ofted to throw away from him this more repecting his skills. Chase is the son of former Cleveland Browns Frank Minnifield who is an All-Decade DB of the ’80s. Chase is a true senior with good football bloodlines, something that might mean a good character and individual. Someone for Champ to mentor and help develop…

Are you thinking first rounder or

could he possibly be a steal in the second round? I would be good taking him either way…it just depends how the draft plays out i guess

by aj fischer on Dec 21, 2011 10:59 AM MST up reply actions

As far back as we pick in the 2nd (54-?) I think he would be gone.

Chase hase the body type of Champ and like I said, he grew up around football and the position, so he should have a jump on some of the other prospects. His dad was 5’9-5’10 and made the ProBowl 4 times with the Browns.

We won't know if Fanin is the real deal prior to the draft....

….besides, he is an undrafted FA, odds are he is not the real deal. There is always one or two undrafted FAs that the MHR faithful point to every year and say we are set at that position, but they hardly ever contribute. So if Fanin turns out to be our guy, we should all be very excited, but we would be wise to consider it a bonus more than anything else.

I’m sure Houston hadn’t put all their eggs in the Arian Foster basket, seeing as how he was undrafted…

So good point, if it works we are geniuses, if not, its par for the course.

REVELATION 6:8
And I looked, and behold a pale [Bronco]: and his name that sat on him was [Tebow], and [a Ferocious Defense] followed with him. If we can't get Trent Richardson or Montee Ball, then I would wait until rounds 2-3 for a RB...

Maybe a solid returner in the 5th-7th rds (Rainey or Depps) who are fast. Depps is projected to run 4.33 or faster. There are some durable concerns with back like that, but the Chiefs McCluster seems to handle the load.

EFX have film on Fannin. They know what his potential is, its just the ball handling issues he had in college, plus now the injury issues. I don’t know what it is about Training Camp that seems to bite good prospects in the butt? Maybe the players try to impress to much and make little dumb mistakes or that they are facing NFL tackling for the first time. This is something that I’ve thought about but never could get a clear answer.

can't say i agree completely with the whole undratfed part.

There seems to be a few teams that finds a few gems every now and again. Our very own Rod Smith and Chris Harris. Now Harris has a ways to go but so far looks to be a nice gems. I rank undrafted equivalent to 6-7 round picks. But its hard to find them sometimea.

by broncs27 on Dec 21, 2011 11:09 AM MST via mobile up reply actions

That's 2 guys in 17 years.....

….considering we bring in 4-8 undrafted FAs a year, I’d say the hit rate compared to even late rounders is still fairly low. I think the question is whether the process of picking a successful undrafted FA is closer to random or closer to good scouting. I tend to lean to closer to random. Obviously, not completely random as I’m not discounting one team’s ability to scout may be superior to another, but I still say scouting plays less a role than plain ole luck. It would be interesting if somebodies really broke down the undrafted FA.

I should point out that I'm sure we could come up..

…with more than 2 undrafted FAs that contributed in the last 17 years, but probably not enough to truly refute my point.

As im sitting in my company truck looking through Mhr on my Bionic i dont necessarily have the time...

To really look up more. Those were the 2 off the top of my head that were related to the broncos. Now with i Believe Arian Foster being another one, once i get home im going to take the time to google, yahoo ect to find more. I wasnt saying you were wrong. Just saying i agree but not completely. There are the exceptions out there and wouldnt label Fanin as something less just because he went undrafted.

All I want for Christmas is the AFC West title

And only the Broncos and the Chiefs efforts can give that to Us before Christmas…. Well, that and the lack of (or pathetic-ness of) the Bills and Raiders efforts, of course.

I mean, I guess I can live with waiting until next Sunday to clinch, but come on…. Do we have ta?

Thanks for the Tracks Tim… I hope Mr. Bena approved your leave of absence. Sheesh, playin’ hookey if not, eh?
