Madden Predictions, Buffalo Week

Well, you knew it had to happen eventually. At some point, Madden would fail us and give us an incorrect prediction. I am sorry to say that it happened this week my friends. But it is my fervent belief that the Broncos will learn from their loss to the Patriots, use it to make themselves better and come out and dominate the Buffalo Bills this week. Before we look at this week's predictions, lets take a look at what Madden has predicted to date along with the actual game results.

Madden Prediction Play Through Overall Record: 5-1

And now for this week's predictions. For those of you who have not read this series before, I play through each weeks game once in control of the Broncos. In addition to this, I also sim the game. I do a total of 5 sims each week to obtain a decent sample size. Here are the results of the play through.

Final Score: Denver 27, Buffalo 17

In this one, Denver jumped out to an early lead courtesy of two TD passes from Tebow to Thomas. Buffalo was able to cut the lead to 7 twice, but was unable to come all the way back as Denver scored an insurance field goal late to hold on for the win.

Relevant stats

Denver - T. Tebow 15/22, 244 YDS, 2 TD

Buffalo - R. Fitzpatrick 5/14, 121 YDS, 1 TD, 1 INT

Denver - W. McGahee 27 ATT, 98 YDS

T. Tebow 6 ATT, 40 YDS, 1 TD

Buffalo - C.J. Spiller 16 ATT, 128 YDS

Denver - D. Thomas 5 REC, 118 YDS, 2 TDs

Buffalo - D. Hagan 2 REC, 57 YDS, 1 TD

Denver - V. Miller 6 TCKLs, 2 SACKs

Buffalo - N. Barnett 9 TCKLs

Special Teams:

Denver - M. Prater 2/2 FG, Long 33 YDS

Buffalo - R. Lindell 1/1 FG, Long 51 YDS

And now, here are the results of this week's sims. Like I said earlier in my post, Madden let us down last week. For the first time, it predicted victory and we lost. All right, here we go.

Sim 1: Buffalo 27, Denver 9

Sim 2: Denver 28, Buffalo 3

Sim 3: Buffalo 27, Denver 21, OT

Sim 4: Denver 6, Buffalo 3

Sim 5: Buffalo 17, Denver 14

Sim average: Denver 15.6, Buffalo 15.4

Madden could not seem to make up its mind about this game. As you can see, each team alternated winning and losing with each simulation, with the total scores ending up nearly identical. In fact, the total points scored in all five sims was Denver 78, Buffalo 77. Almost too close to call. But ultimately, Madden thinks Denver squeaks out a win by the slimmest of margins. Here's hoping the boys in orange and blue (or white and blue for this game I suppose) can make these results become reality. Preferably the playthrough results of course.
