Or in my case the Ye Olde Days. Hop, skip and
So I was listening to the radio this morning. Some "Fan" was blathering on about how he hopes his team loses this weekend so they will move up to the 16 draft spot, then he went on about trading 2, 2nd round picks and one for next year and blah blah blah blah!
WTF ever happened to just rooting for your team at all costs and always wanting a win? I remember watching my first NFL game in 1069. We were living in Novato, CA and I think Brodie was the QB. (Yeah, I know it was actually 1969, I just thought it was a funny typo, lol). They were not a great team, but it didnt matter, we yelled and screamed on every play and in every game. Through the years as we moved around (like a good AF brat) my teams did change depending on where we lived. The Vikings, the Dolphins, the All Blacks (yep, got to live in New Zealand) and finally settled in my current home town in Texas and yep....I rooted for the Oilers. (Bet you thought I would say the Cowboys). As you can imagine, there werent many years I got to root for a superbowl cliber team, but it didnt matter. I was still rooting like a dork for each of them.
And now I do the same for Denver (When the Oilers left I was a free agent). I will admit that Tebow is the main reason I became a fan of the Broncos. I never disliked them but Denver was one of the few places I never got to live, lol. I did used to really like Elway though, if that counts. And I hope to be a fan of thiers from now on or at least until the owner pulls a Bud Adams (Which I cant see happening).
I just wish more people were like we were as kids, not worried about the draft, just yelling for a win. But maybe its just me. Im getting old and maudlin.
