Kyle Orton may not have done much right for the Broncos this year, but the one gift he gave that may keep on giving is his lone win for the Broncos in 2011, the 24-22 win over the Bengals in week 2.
While the pundits are talking themselves blue in the face debating whether or not the Broncos can catch the Raiders, the simple truth is that if the Broncos win tomorrow and the Bengals lose on the road to the Steelers, which seems entirely likely, the Broncos will move into the second wild card (the #6 seed), even if the Raiders, Jets and Titans all win. But wait, it gets better. If the Raiders lose to Miami, a totally plausible scenario as they are traveling to the east coast to play a Dolphins team that has won three of its last four (the one loss being by one point to the Cowboys), the Broncos will move into the division lead and the number 4 seed in the playoffs tomorrow, and the Raiders will drop out. I can't wait to hear the uproar in the MSM if that happens. The lowly Broncos, who several predicted would finish last in the West, in a playoff spot with five games left to play? Whether we stay there depends on a bunch of different factors that are too hard to predict at the moment, but the bottom line is once we move into a tie with the Raiders, we'll win the division as long as we stay tied in overall record, we beat Kansas City, and the Raider lose to either the Chiefs or the Chargers. Man, I am pumped for tomorrow!
