Technically, the standings say the Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders are tied for the lead in the AFC West, with identical 7-5 records entering the final four weeks. But don't believe it. At this point, I think we all can see where this story is headed.

Column: Anti-Tebow bias isn't about football – USATODAY.com
How often do self-righteous football commentators have occasion to lament the behavior of modern players: Chad Johnson's reality show and "Ocho-Cinco" publicity stunt; Adam "Pac-Man" Jones' nightclub incidents; Michael Vick's dog-fighting hobby; and the never-ending soap opera that is Brett Favre. The modern athlete is, they say, selfish, all about the money, and looking for any opportunity to promote himself.

NFL.com news: Broncos' Tebow wouldn't be such a surprising pick for Pro Bowl
Brady and Roethlisberger shouldn't incite any Pro Bowl-based riots in Denver. Brady has a passer rating well north of 100, a 30-10 touchdown-interception ratio, and has played well enough to make little kids cry.

It was the fifth consecutive road win for Denver, a streak the franchise hasn’t known since John Elway was quarterback in 1998. The team is 6-1 with Tebow starting at quarterback, although those have been far from virtuoso performances, as the defense has played a huge role in the success.

The longest winning streaks in the NFL right now belong to Green Bay at 18, with the unflappable Aaron Rodgers at quarterback; Houston at 6, with third-stringer T.J. Yates calling the signals; and the surprising Denver Broncos with Tim Tebow leading them to five in a row. Football is a funny game.

I can't wait to hear what the excuses are this week. Tebow didn't even run the ball that much (4-13). The defense couldn't stop Christian Ponder. This Denver victory was the result of Tebow's great passing in the second half. But I doubt the stubborn fools on ESPN (Cris Carter, Merril Hoge, Bomani Jones) will want to give Tebow any sort of credit for this victory. So I'll be the one to do so.

Broncos vs Vikings Studs and Duds - Mile High Report
The Broncos are in 1st place in the AFC West. Let's let that sink in for a second. The Broncos, you know that team that started the year 1-4, are in 1st place in the AFC West with 4 games left against the Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. On Sunday, the Broncos were able to narrowly beat the Minnesota Vikings with a game winning field goal as time expired.

Does it bother you? Can't quite tell.

It is not as if Tebow goes out and requests that he have this many articles. This is some weird phenomenon of MSM, not really of the individual (Tebow). Even his so-called evangelical bent seems to consist of giving thanks to god at the beginning of an interview and a God Bless at the end. The rest of it is worthy works, it seems. The ad regarding pro-life was mild, to say the least. This whole media phenomenon seems to be more about our culture than about the man Tebow. Ironically and totally unfairly , the media (Cowherd in this case) then comes out and says it is unfair that Tebow gets all the attention…when they themselves are the source that throws it at him. By every interview I see, he doesn’t even read it.

Not really aimed at you, I guess, Tim. Just musing about the same question that has plagued me ever since this kid was drafted into the NFL….why such a strong response, on both sides. On the pro-Tebow side, I guess I can understand pulling for someone that initially seemed to have the power structure trying to undermine him (national, not team), or maybe wishing a good guy well, or identifying with a religious person that seems to be truly living his beliefs. But even that view does not explain the intense defense responses we see. Me? Love the kid, and I hate hypocrisy. He at least has not shown me any of the latter so far.

It's like Tebows success has some effect on him on a personal level

almost as though the more Tebow wins, the less ass his wife is willing to give him. She’s spending more time alone in the bathroom with the cover of the NFL magazine.

To be fair, if Tebow was costing me sex, I’d be whining like a pre-pubescent teen too

Dave Dameshek said that when he was in Radio, Cowherd came into the studio

to tell him how to succeed. Cowherd drew a map of the United States, then drew a giant U cover the coasts and Texas and said “these are the only people I care about, these are my fans and you know why? because they love gettin laid” not that I needed the nudge to dislike that frontrunning ass clown but it didn’t hurt.

I try to keep my expectations low....

I can’t expect them to pull off 4th quarter comeback every week. I was a little more worried this week given that we were actually favored. I believe that Minnesota is playing well below their abilities and was waiting for them to have a breakout game against, which they kinda did. Take away Ponders’ 2 picks and we lose. Glad to see Haggen step up for Von with his pick 6. Not sure what to think about the Bears next week, but with Forte and Cutler out it definitely looks promising.

by Puckhead1 on Dec 5, 2011 12:11 PM MST up reply actions

Great game yesterday

That was entertaining.

I’m sure we’re all the same around here in the way we feel at the end of a game.

I remmeber when Cutler kept it close we’d start to drive the field for the win or tie and he’d do something stupid like throw a pick. Orton had a lot of chances to lead a game winning drive and he’d wet the bed. I used to have the feeling/expectation that they’d fail and we’d lose. But with Tebow when he gets the ball late I expect him to win. And he does. It’s a great feeling knowing that you have a legitimate chance at the end. I think that’s called hope.

He made some outstanding plays and throws yesterday. Every week I’ve been looking for progress and I can see it now. I don’t have an acute eye so maybe I was missing it before but it’s there. I understand the crappyness of the Vikings secondary but still, he made the throws that needed to be made. Let’s keep it rolling.

Excuse me, do these effectively hide my thunder?

On offense we have Palko as QB, and he sucks it up on the field. We are a run first team with our best RB out for the year, so yeah we suck right now, thank god the defense is showing up.

He has a better arm than Cassel and with the right coaching he could surprise people. Every year he played at Iowa he improved every stat, and watching this video can make the throws as well as avoid pressure in the pocket and make good throws on the run. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4×2UUWgv1NQ

This is my true feelings about Tebow.

I like Tebow as a person and what he stands for, you couldn’t ask for a better role model for your kids to look up too. I didn’t think he had what it takes to be a good QB at the NFL level, but I’m slowly changing my mind about that, and I’d like to see him do it against a top tier defense to know for sure one way or the other. What I don’t like is the over the top comments and how anything that’s said about Tebow if it’s not a positive gets turned to hate, you can believe me or not I guess. Let me say that I enjoy coming in here, and I try to keep it as straight forward as I can.

so if he is improving,

why does he have to prove it immediately. You feel Stanzi has potential, but are obviously willing to give him time and don’t ask him to prove himself against a top tier defense. If this is really just the comments that drive you (ie, over the top), and it may well be, just mark it up to fans being fans.

Cassel if he has time is a good enough with our running game to get the job done and even win the S.B. But everything has to be in place, that means we have to draft a OT or SILB with our first 2 picks then it’s solid depth for the other key positions. If T.Dilfer can win a S.B Cassel can with the right pieces around him, and at this point that’s the way I have to look at it. That being said I would rather see what Stanzi can do because I think he can be a better QB than Cassel is.

Not really

While Orton has a better deep arm and will put up big numbers he will always turn the ball over, at least with Cassel he is careful with the football and since we are a ball control run first team a game managing QB who has time in the pocket should be the perfect fit.

I don't think anybody is blaming Tebow for making the throws

they are just saying a contributing factor was to broken coverages and notoriously bad secondary. I think it may also be to the point where Broncos fans are use to them raggin on Tebow, that any Tebow comment can be twisted to a point where you can say they are hating on Tebow.

I know how like to bitch about Tebow and all that, we get it, you dont like him. However, he is the starting QB for my beloved Broncos, and as such, I love the guy. If you want to piss and moan about how the Chiefs lost all their stars and blah blah blah, then you need to take your act to the AP. This is a site for BRONCOS FANS, and its perfectly normal for any teams fans to be excited about their QB. So to sum it up, how bout you head over to the AP for a while and leave the BRONCOS blog for BRONCOS FANS

How about you learn Reading Comprehension first reread everything I've said in here.

You’re right you would never use the loss of 3 of your better players as a excuse, your above that. Lets pick 3 of your better players, hmmmmmm ok V.Miller out for the year, Tebow out for the year, and lets see McGahee out for the year. Would your team still be winning, would you have the right to point that out or bring it up, I say hell yes and only a asshole would have a problem with it.

It looked more like he was mad at himself rather than the call.

What a game!

I know we’ve been talking all week that the Vikings match up well with the Broncos. So it was nice to see us pull out a victory. Those games in the past are the ones we typically lose.

It was also nice to hear in the pre-game that some of the players (Champ and Dawk I think, or maybe it was McGahee) said that this game was a true test for the team. And that if they couldn’t win this game, they had no business in the playoffs.

And to think...

…all these people hate on Tebow because he wears his religion on his sleeve. More power to him for not wearing down in the face of adversity and staying true to who he is. I’m not religious, but his sincerity is a breath of fresh air in a league peppered with people stomping on other people, rampant abuse of drugs and alcohol, and an overwhelming lack of “humanity.”

I think people forget, sometimes, that these are people, too. Not just investments and superstars. I, for one, absolutely loved the NFL.com spread on LaMarr Woodley and his contributions to some of the impoverished people in his hometown of Saginaw, MI. No one looks at Adrian Peterson and thinks “oh, that guy’s gonna go build hospitals and schools in a third world country.” They see his blinging watch, multimillion dollar contracts, and nice cars. Granted all the media attention that Tebow garners helps him set the stage for such comments, but it would be great to see more focus on players interested in being good people.

Not sure where to post this

but I was at the game yesterday and I know Minnesota is 2-10 team, but winning at the Metrodome is no easy thing. In a day of two different halfs for both our offense and defense, it was nice to see each group pick each other up and get a win.

It was also great to see so many Broncos fans at the game. I would say there had to be around 10,000 or more Broncos fans at the game. I’m sure Tebow is bringing in new Broncos fans, but regardless it’s great to see more Orange and Blue at road games. We all know how it felt to Steeler fans take over Invesco a couple years ago.

Lastly, I know the Vikings secondary is not good, but you can still can’t take away what Tebow did throwing the ball yesterday. He found the open WR’s, he hit them where they needed to be hit. To be honest, without watching the game on tv, I thought his two best throws were the one to Thomas on the sideline that got reviewed and overturned, and the one at the end of the game with pressure in his face where he and Thomas almost connected for a td.

by wiebrod on Dec 5, 2011 9:54 AM MST reply actions

Cowheard has such a problem with Tebow

when Tebow goes out, doesn’t turn the ball over, has better stats than Sanchez (in half the attempts) more TD’s, WINS, and always says the right thing. That’s why this guy is polarizing. Yet he complains about Sanchez not getting the attention…last i checked the Jets have had an entire team built for a Superbowl run and Sanchez has had some success with that team, but hasn’t reached the Superbowl. Meanwhile Tebow is 6-1 as a starter this year on the same team Kyle Orton was 1-4. Granted the Defense has been stellar most Sundays (not yesterday without Von though)…Sorry guys that’s my rant….

Does anyone else think Von Miller should not only be ROY, and make the probowl, but also a legit candidate for MVP? He is clearly out best defensive player, leads the team in sacks (hopefully breaks the rookie record), is third in the league in sacks, and HAS NOT MISSED A TACKLE ALL SEASON! We saw major holes in the D yesterday without him. I don’t think he should win MVP this season, but I do believe that his name needs to be brought up with that award as a contender IMO.

that Cowheard dislikes Tebow but loves Sanchez when honestly the are in similar situations with their team. I guess my main point is that he loves Sanchez and dislikes Tebow when when you like one, you have to respect the other, and vice versa…given the choice i take Tebow everytime.

Im not looking forward to the New England game.

If a rookie can pass for that much and mostly against Goodman, im not looking forward to seeing what Brady will do. Granted this game we didn’t have Miller but Goodman scares me. Hopefully best player available next spring is a damn good Cb that can learn from Champ.

I'm looking forward to the remaining 4 games where 3 of them are at home...

We have won 5 straight road games and that is a feat that is hard to do, now we have one more on the road in 3 weeks in Buffalo and two at home and the last game at home against the Chiefs. I like our chances right now to go 10-6 and win the division outright…We may lose to the Bears who put themselves in a corner and still are playing for a playoff spot. Losing to them might be a good thing because I don’t see the players (especially with Timmie encouraging them) getting down to the point that they can’t rally back the next week. This team is starting to believe in themselves and that creates a winningatmosphere…

I'll say this for Christian Ponder...

He made some snap decision passes to Harvin and others that were spot on. This kid is the real deal and the more he gets acquainted with his players then the NFC North better be on notice. Sure he made rookie mistakes, but all in all against the Broncos defense as a ‘whole’ (not just Goodman because Champ got beat a couple of times too…) Ponder did a pretty good job and I’ll give credit where it’s due. Anothe thing, the ref’s didn’t do us any favors on a couple of plays either…

I find it interesting that now the talk has switched from...

…there is “no way Tim can be successful in the NFL” to, “do any of you guys think that the broncos can actually win a play off game this year?” Of course the response is still negative, but a few actually think that “maybe they could possibly win just one, if certain planets all line up properly and whatever team they face has been totally decimated by injuries!”

The kool-aid is delicious

First off i would like to thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ… Ha I thought that would be a good way to start my rant.

Anyway the broncos are in beautiful position to win the west. Injuries to Cutler and (unfortunately for my fantasy team) Matt Forte, the fact that we are pretty good at stopping tight ends this year (the gronks), the bills showing their true colors, and the injury struck cheifs has us looking good. But I don’t just wanna make it to the playoffs, I want them to win it all! The AFC playoffs does not look that intimidating either. The team I would not want Denver to face would hands down be the Steelers, I think they got the right group to beat us good. Other than that we can beat T.J. Yates and Co. We can beat the Ravens and Joe overratted Flaco. We beat the bengals with Neckbeard for tebow sake! And if we keep that ball away from Brady, we can score on that pathetic excuse of a defense.

All I’m saying is we got a good a chance as any to keep winning beyond the regular season. Drink the look-aid bronco fans, its good and fresh, and by the way our special framers are unbelievably good

Clady is fine, but Tebow needs to not dive into the back of his legs again.

I rewatched the Clady injury last night and he is not hurt. Tebow dove into the back of his legs. Clady walked off, but more importantly, when the FG went in and the game was over, Ryan was next to Tim. He smiled and walked to the middle of the field to shake hands.

He looked fine, no trainers or anything around him.

Bad Bad Tim on that play. Tim can never do that again and I doubt he does.

Hey, how about some love for Matthew Willis?!!! Dude is earning his stay and may now be our #3

receiver. (Decker, Thomas, Willis, Royal…in this order now). His special teams work has been, well, special. Based on what I’ve seen of him this year I think he should be considered as an option for the pro bowl as a special teamer. Always seems to be making plays on punts and kickoffs. He has been a force.
