For Your Consideration: Willis McGahee
As the 2012 Pro Bowl voting comes to a conclusion Mile High Report will be endorsing several Broncos players for your consideration:
Willis McGahee was the first free agent pick-up of the Denver Broncos latest regime, though the Broncos seemed to be doing their best to get DeAngelo Williams away from the Carolina Panthers. If you were to compare the two running backs stats this season Denver seemed to come away with the better transaction (and a healthier wallet).
McGahee has lent 886 yards combined with Tim Tebow and the assistance of Spencer Larsen, Knowshon Moreno and Lance Ball to a 1,907 total to help Denver lead the NFL in rushing through week thirteen. All of those yards have come with McGahee basically inactive for the first game against the Oakland Raiders and injured versus the Detroit Lions.
As analysts continue to try to figure out what is making Tebow so successful in Denver, they're skimming over the other half of the Broncos offense and that is McGahee.
So, what are you waiting for? Vote McGahee to the the 2012 Pro Bowl before it is too late! Follow this link where all of your favorite Denver players are located at the top of the ballot for your ease in voting them into the game. Although if the Broncos make the Super Bowl it will all be all for nothing.
For Your Consideration will be a tri-weekly series leading up to the 2012 Pro Bowl voting finale on December 19th. Feel free to vote for your favorite players here and be sure to follow Mile High Report on Twitter and Facebook as well as me via The Orange Page.

Keeping all things in perspective Willis McGahee has done more.
Model in the locker room
Offensive Captain
2011 NFL Comeback Player of the year
YEAH my vote also is MVP
Tebow affected the offense, including the running game
But McGahee has been fantastic, and should definitely be the comeback player of the year.
I bet he gets selected for a PB no problem.

I feel like if McGahee had started the first game against Oakland
The Broncos likely would have won, things would likely be different right now though. So maybe it is a blessing.

Haha, I want to vote no. Because he will be busy :D
Lovin some Willis McGahee as a Bronco!!!
Go Broncos!
I believe.... 11-5 till we ain't baby!
Thanks
for that link. I’m voting for all the Broncos on the ballot.
MJD has to be the starter for the AFC
drafted him on my fantasy team round 1, and I’m looking like a genius for it now. It may be tough for McGahee to beat out Rice, Foster, and Fred Jackson. I think the most likely scenario is he gets invited as an alternate.
Who would win in a fight between... a grilled cheese sandwhich or a taco?
Well, I think the grilled cheese sandwich - in a fair fight. But if it was prison rules, I'd put my money on the taco.
Wow, that's pretty racist but correct.
Fred Jackson is on IR....so...
Willis McGahee leapfrogs Jackson as the first sub for the AFC. MJD, Arian Foster, and Ray Rice absolutely have dwarfed McGahee stat wise, fo far. I try not to be a homer in the Pro Bowl. I try to look at it as if I were a coach, or another player. Not who I think is the best…. but who actually is the best.
QB: Tom Brady ~ Big Ben ~ Tim Tebow
Reserve: Andy Dalton / Fitzmagic / Dirty-Crybaby Sanchez…. aka. Stinklip
RB: Arian Foster ~ MJD ~ Ray Rice
Reserve: McGahee / Mendenhall / Green-Ellis
WR: Wes Welker ~ Vincent Jackson ~ Mike Wallace ~ A.J. Green
Reserve: Eric Decker / B Marsh / Plaxico Burress / Anquan Bolden
TE: Rob Gronkowski ~ Heath Miller
Reserve: Owen Daniels / Antonio Gates / Aaron Hernandez / Dustin Keller
FB: Vonta Leach
Reserve: Greg Jones

No pro bowl
MJD, Foster and Rice have all done more to deserve it, Fred Jackson and Darren Mcfadden before injuries would have been locks ahead of Mcgahee as well.
This doesn’t detract from the fact that Mcgahee has been stellar this year he leads the league in 100 yards rushing games (shared with Fred Jackson), has put up more rushing yards per game than any Denver RB for quite a while, has a good attitude and is working his ass off.

The pro bowl is a sham anyways.
Tebow goes for sure because Brady will “hurt” I’m betting McGahee will be an alternate too

Spot on
You just named em all. There are a few right behind Mcgahee too, but I say he is the first sub off the bench. CJ2K, Mendenhall, Green-Ellis, and Michael Bush are in consideration is McGahee can’t go. You are exactly right though…. McFadden and Freddie Jackson would have gone ahead of McGahee if not for injuries.

Noooo Pro Bowl
So he will not have his money value increased and remain a Bronco for another 2 years contract after this one, what gives us more 3 and a half years of him =)
I do think the last to more as red zone threat, but still with great carries…
This signature was sacked by Von Miller.

How do you folks around here feel about the AFC West?
Do you like your chances? I feel it is very much up for grabs for any team at this point. Even the Chiefs at 2 games back.

The way we are playing with Tebow, I think anything is possible at this point...
Basically all we have to do is win the next 4 games and we’re in.

I have the best feeling I've had since 2005!!!
I really think nothing is going to hold us back from the Playoffs this year!!! If Elway drafts a QB in the first 2 rounds next year, he deserves to be fired!!! I don’t think he will though. 1st off, they’re trying to build that band of brothers, team mentality….. no one man is bigger or batter than the team. To heap man crush level praise on any one of them would be counterproductive to that.
2nd off, I think Elway is trying to create a little pressure on Tebow, on purpose. He wants to see how Tim will respond, but he also knows that Tim is known for responding to adversity / doubt. The longer you doubt Superman…. the stronger and scarier he gets.

Pro Bowl? Absolutely
He so deserves to be there and the front office deserves a lot of credit for picking this guy up.

I say yes!
He’s a big reason that the Broncos can win the AFC West and go deep into the playoffs.
The caveat is everyone staying healthy, TT keeps improving and managing the games the way he already is and the defense dominates. Can’t forget about how well our ST has been contributing as well. Geeeee, not too much to ask for is it?? ;) lol

I have to say in all honesty..... no
You vote for 3 in each conference, and in the AFC, I believe Arian Foster (916 yd. 10 td)… Ray Rice (926 yd. 12 td)… and Maurice Jones-Drew (1,137 yds. 6 tds) all dwarf McGahee (886 yd. 5 tds). I will say he’s definitely a fringe pro-bowler. Him, Mendenhall, Green-Ellis, and possibly CJ2K / Bush / Matthews / Greene are in that next grouping. The NFC trumps the AFC this year in RB’s (McCoy, Peterson, Gore, Forte, Turner, Wells, Lynch)…. there’s just more of them.

P.S. (regretfully)
Decker is a fringe Pro Bowler, as is Tebow on offense. B Dawk and Champ are teetering between fringe and a lock, and Von Miller is the biggest, sure fire lock I’ve ever seen as a rookie….. okay, maybe not the biggest, but of equal importance to Clay Matthews. He’s definitely playing better than Clay this year.

Great points, everyone, however...
I believe Arian Foster (916 yd. 10 td)… Ray Rice (926 yd. 12 td)… and Maurice Jones-Drew (1,137 yds. 6 tds) all dwarf McGahee (886 yd. 5 tds).
I am not in-dispute that a lot of these running backs deserve to be in a Pro Bowl, but in this Pro Bowl… McGahee definitely deserves to go. Look at MJD- what other option does that offense have BUT to run and McGahee has missed two games (would that not have made up for the 251 yard and one touchdown differential between them?
McGahee is the running back for the number one running offense in the NFL!
Foster, Rice and MJD have all benefited from one thing that McGahee hasn’t— not having a quarterback. Tebow has one less TD than Flacco (14) (Flacco has started the entire season and Tebow since week six; Schaub had 17 before he went down). I could go on, but hopefully I’ve made my point.

See, the way I look at it is McGahee getting hurt does not work to his credit
is McGahee getting hurt does not work to his credit! Had he been healthy those two games, then maybe….. but he wasn’t. MJD on the other hand has stayed healthy and thus has helped his team out a little more. And what are you saying? That McGahee hasn’t had a QB??? I beg to differ…. if not for the threat of Tebow running, and the D committing spies to just him on many plays, then McGahee has less stats than now.
I wish the Pro Bowl voting didn’t end to soon, and we could give these boys until the end of the year. But as of right now, all three of those RB’s I listed have had better production than McGahee. I really don’t care…. I love McGahee and whether he goes to the Pro Bowl or not makes no difference to me…. we’re winning!!!

Nevermind
I see what you’re saying now. You’re saying the Texans, Ravens, and Jaguars RB’s have benefited from not having a QB. IDK man…. I can see that with Jacksonville for sure, but IMO, without a consistent threat of a pass, that makes a RB’s job even more difficult (as has been the case with McGahee for many games). The option trickery has helped our run game become 1st overall, and that’s not a bad thing. But Flacco and Schaub are FAR from being considered no QB.

I'll agree with you as well my friend.
You have a valid point as well. However, I may disagree with you on Flacco.

Stop making sense over my Bronco bias! LOL
Good picks for the PB, PaleHorse. But, IMHO I think the PB is such a sham and over-blown anyways. The contract incentives for the players is good for the players…but they often times find a way to defer playing while using the title to negotiate the next contract.
I’ve never watched a PB because it seems pointless! Maybe different if I were actually in Hawaii soaking it all in……??! Even then, I’d probably be on the beach! Sorry for the soapbox……
brother
I take the voting more serious than I do the actual game. The last Pro Bowl I remember watching is when Cutler, Clady, and Doom went back in 2008. I remember Cutler pulling off the old fumblerooski and Le’Ron McClain scooped and scored. Other than that, Jay looked pretty nervous. His diabetes was flaring back then, and Dielman, Manning and some others, punked him at the hotel pool (LMAO!!!). But I’m totally with ya…. I just happen to take the voting process seriously.

Funny that anyone would vote against him in this poll.
We conquered this territory with our bodies and souls, then we watered it with our tears.
Go Denver!
Why?
Like many stated above, while he has been a big part of our success this year, I don’t think he’s been one of the top-3 backs in the AFC this year.
I actually even think KnoMo looked better when healthy (which was for all of about 4 plays), so I think a lot of McGahee’s success has been due to very good blocking up front and TT’s ability to confuse/slow the DEF in the run game.
Basically he’s been very good, and I’m very glad we have him… but he’s also in some ways a role player who is just competantly doing his job, not a “star” deserving of a PBowl spot.
He’d look great as an alternate (he’s very close to top 3 in the AFC… better than Mendenhall & Bush), and I’m also hoping he’ll be busy with a different game…. ;-)
KnoShow definitely looked better in the KC game
and he has progressed into the nastiest blocking RB on our team, but I can’t say he’s looked better overall. Too impatient, to fragile. And those floppin’ damn legs!!!??? WTF Knowshon? Settle the hell down son….. this isn’t the Superbowl yet!!!

McGahee, Tebow, and the offensive line were the perfect storm...
Would McGahee be this effective in a standard running scheme in Baltimore or Washington? I doubt it.
McGahee and Tebow absolutely feed off each other with the zone read. Even when McGahee doesn’t break it for 20 yards, the defenders aren’t getting the chance to tee off on him because they have to stay at home before committing. There’s not 10 yard run-up to the hit. It not only takes off the wear and tear that a typical running back takes, but it means a lot of typically 2 yard gains turn into 4 yard gains because he can fall forward through the weaker tackles.
It also helps that our offensive line is almost perfectly built for running the ball. These guys are monsters at the brute force required to just push around defenders (as opposed to the footwork of pass protection). That’s an oversimplification, but I don’t think anyone doubts that Orlando Franklin is benefiting from a running scheme his rookie year.
I hate all the fumbles he's had
But he’s been huge for the Broncos and runs tough. I think he gets in.
MOZGOD Member #35
He was due for those fumbles
every back will eventually. McGahee has been too hurt for my liking, that’s the only knock. We need a dependable guy (not saying Willis isn’t), another guy like Tebow who will tough it out and never misses games. I wish we had Gerhart.
