I like being a Denver Bronco, but the choice is not up to me whether I stay. I’ve proven myself every year that I have been in the NFL, and I don’t have a problem doing that here or anywhere else."

No telling what other bone headed crapola McD was up to...
Guys this is only the stuff we’ve found out about. What dark nefarious goings on are we never going to know about? I shudder in my underpants just thinking about it.
We’re in better hands.

Before we jump to conclusions
look at all the teams that were mentioned as being talked to, all ZBS teams. He’s a great ZBS RT, so I think if we truly are committed to going back there, we’ll keep Harris. I personally don’t see an upgrade in FA, and I don’t want to waste a draft pick on an RT early instead of easily resigning a guy who wants to be here
Changing my sig again lol. Reports are saying Denver loves Bowers, but I really hope not. I have a lot of question marks on this guy. I'm personally hoping Denver chooses between PP and Fairley, but insiders are saying differently.

Nice point, I mentione d the scheme thing on the other post
Harris was injured at the time and didn’t really fit the scheme. He thrived in ZB scheme as a rookie in ‘08. His monetary value can’t be huge after only having one really good season. I once estimated it at $7M per year, but I’ll bet that it’s a lot less now. The fact that he said he hopes to know his future in the next week or two means he’s expecting to be released or signed. I know that sounds simple, but it likely means an actual decision is forth coming.
I agree that we should sign him, especially if we get a good discount due to his lack of recent production and his injuries. Plus, it helps that no teams pulled the trigger on a trade and that he’s not allowed to talk to other teams. All signs point to a good price, IMO. So hopefully we keep him.
Great point DBroncs
I think all of our lineman are better siuted for the ZB scheme. The Ryans were solid in this scheme. It will be interesting to see how walton and beadles transition to the new scheme.

Off topic
But I tried to go back into the transcript of Elway’s presser to see what exactly, word for word he said on Harris. Surprisingly, it looks like the PR people removed the quote on Harris in the transcript. I liked how frank Elway was on the issues, but it seemed like maybe the comment on Harris was a press conference gaffe during Elway’s first day on the job.

I never got to hear that press conference..
I’ve often wondered exactly what you were wondering… what were his words. So often we have people almost annoyingly parroting Elway saying, “Elway said” and over half the time they mis-characterize and over simplify and mis-quote in order to support a point.
Guess that’s a long way of saying, if you find it let me know… I’d love to watch it or read it.
Wow so this is very strange
I decided to rewatch the video to transcribe the actual quote on Harris. Not only does the transcript not include the comments on Ryan Harris, but neither does the video of the press conference that is on denverbroncos.com.
The video doesn’t seem to cut or jump at any point, but the video is in two parts, and the Harris question could have been in between the two parts. I think this is highly likely because the question at the end of part 1 is asking Elway to evaluate the talent currently on the roster, and the question at the start of part 2 is unrelated. I went back through the open thread we had during the press conference to see if there were comments about Ryan Harris that would have shown at what time the comments came up during the press conference. But no one said anything about Harris! It’s like the comments never existed!
The Denver Post posted an article summarizing Elway’s comments. The summary follows roughly in chronological order, and the comment
Elway sounded like he believed he’d be looking for a replacement in the draft or free agency for right tackle Ryan Harris, who stabilized the offensive line and protected Tebow’s blind side but will be a free agent.
would fall right into where the video cuts between Part 1 and Part 2.
I don’t want to start a conspiracy, but it feels like I’m taking crazy pills! Elway made some really big statements on Harris, right? If I remember correctly, it was something along the lines of, “were going to go ahead and allow Harris to test Free Agency.” But it looks like the Broncos PR staff inadvertently or intentionally removed those comments from their releases and videos.
Am I going crazy?
Also: you can find Elway’s press conference video here and the transcript of what he said here.

haha I couldnt tell ya
I never saw it. Are we sure it wasn’t said in a different interview? Anyway, thanks for the reply and all that work looking stuff up. I’m going to watch it now.
It wasn't in his press conference,
I watched it live. I hear people say that Elway said something about trading/cutting Harris, but I don’t know there source.

Elway Did Say It
Worthington, you are not going crazy. I watched the entire Elway presser, and Elway said the Broncos would be looking for a replacement for Harris. It now appears the Broncos have obviously backed off from that position, however.
I swear he said it too.....maybe they will sign Harris. I like him.

ANYONE ELSE INTERESTED IN SEEING WHAT WE HAVE IN TEBOW? Watching Kyle orton is like watching re-runs of the Brady Bunch...you always know whats going to happen and makes you feel sick at the end!
"I actually watched the World Cup. I HATE baseball. Hockey’s over. Hey, at least we have the WNBA. Oh, man. I’m making a noose. Want one?"
Harv Neptune.
Yes, he said it
I don’t remember the exact wording, but I remember it being an eyebrow raising statement. I remember thinking at the time, “wow, that’s a pretty bold statement to make in a press conference. Maybe he should have kept that behind closed doors.”
It’s definitely interesting that it’s been scrubbed from all record though.

My two cents:
We’re going to resign Harris. The dude is a gamer, he wants to be here, (and like DBroncs said above) there ain’t nobody cheaper/better in FA and we don’t have the picks to replace him in the draft. Every day the guy retweets fans that are imploring him to stay in denver (as well as asinine banter with Clady and Decker – but you take the good with the bad I guess – at least he’s not Lendale White).
I like the dude.

this makes sense why he didnt play during this time!

Resigning Harris is a must !!
Like has been said already can’t replace him with better talent in free agency and don’t have the draft picks to replace him and even if we did might not find one that is as good . Elway said they wanted to build this team through the draft ,well Harris is one of our own time to give the man a new and fair contract. I hate to think about this line being any good if you keep changing all of it’s parts. Hopefully the new line coach can get them playing as one .

With Coach Zorro on our side, we will slice opponents to ribbons. Tim Tebow gives me hope and I already have faith and charity in my heart! I see a propitious future rife with Lombardis for our Broncos!

The things Elway said were before we hired Fox and Magazu so Elway's statements were premature.
Maybe now we are reconsidering bringing him back on since he is very good in the ZBS. I would like it if we brought him back. I think our O-line can be very good next year if we do.
Tim Tebow wears 3WM and drinks Tuscan whole milk.
Why would they even consider trading the guy? There is noone available who is even close to his ability
They can't trade him because he is a FA. They were considering letting him go test the market though.
I agree though. We’d have to draft his replacement and I think I’d rather just keep him.

Probably the injury factored into it heavily
But there’s really no reason to let him go now unless it’s for an exorbitant price. He would get scooped up quickly. Why are we letting guys like that get away?

Keep Harris
Switch back to the ZBS, bring in DeAngelo Williams to team up with Moreno as our feature RB tandem, and hope LenDale White can pull it together to become our red-zone back. Even if it doesn’t work exactly that way, having D. Williams, White and even Buckhalter in camp to push Moreno for starting time can only be good for him. He will either wilt under the pressure or he will rise to the occasion and become worthy of his 1st round selection.
