Denver Broncos Pursuing O.J. Atogwe
According to Bill Williamson, ESPN, the Denver Broncos are going after recently released safety O.J. Atogwe. Atogwe, is 29 years old and attended Stanford, and is from Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
The Broncos has said they are after him because he is aggressive and creates a lot of turnovers. Other teams that are interested in Atogwe are Washington, Dallas, Buffalo, and St. Louis , the team that released him.
The situation should be resolved in the next week. How do you feel about this potential signing for the Broncos? State your opinions in the comments.

If we sign him...
I see that as the end of Dawk. The guy was great his first year and his leadership skills aren’t even up for discussion, but he, IMHO, was a big part of our problem last year. If we get OJ, it’ll be role of the veteran safety we’re filling, leaving Dawk on the outside. I expect we’ll shore the position up in the draft to counter age concerns.

As I said last week
I just hope it works out better than the O.J./Bronco combination in ’94.

Ok fairly young...
And what I wanted to say before being interupted by a great but bull headed lil 2yr old to watch trash trucks on youtube is that he (otogwe) is still young but has just enough experience for what we need right now…it’d be an upgrade for the d but not so long in the tooth as we have had w other vet players we signed over the past couple yrs

You do realize.
You’re cheering for the Broncos to be he worst team in the league next year, right? Every single time you post something about getting Luck this is what you’re wishing for.
Please stop. It makes me sad to see a fan who wants his team to lose so desperately.

Just kidding. I would love this. My favorite UFA (because I think they are realistic in Denver)
1. This guy
2. Zach Miller (TE)
3. Sproles (3rd down back)
or 4. D Williams (or Darren)
5. Ray Edwards (DE)
I’d love to see a few of these guys on our team next season. Guess we’ll need to address LB in round 2 of the NFL draft.

Romo had a rep as an unstable physco and he was a key to our Super Bowl victories. All I care about is what happens on the field (so long as we don’t have rapist, drug addicts (Lepsis), or other complete low life types (Vick and Rae Caruth qualify) on our team.

Sign him! 3.5 million can be freed up right away:
Although Dawkins gives everything week in and week out, his tank just seems to have a bit too much rust building up. If we sign Atogwe and cut Dawkins loose, we drop almost 10 years off of our aging secondary. Atogwe’s nose for the ball would probably account for 3 or 4 additional turnovers for the orange and blue in 2011.
Dawk
has nowhere to go from here but Canton. If we win the Lombardi trophy in the next few seasons, Dawk should get an honorary ring because he’s such a super stud!

Not onboard
Atogwe has plateaued since his 2008 season and he’s been a liability in pass coverage over the last two seasons. He’s a good tackler in the box, but he’s had a ton of MAs for a veteran of his age. Plus, he won’t be cheap.
No more stop-gaps in the secondary!
im not sure if everyone knows it so im going to say it.
Brian Dawkins plays strong safety so if we sign O.J. Atogwe he won’t be taking dawkins spot.

I know Dawkins moved from FS to SS. Since Atogwe managed to pick up a few picks at FS and seems to bring the wood regularly wouldn’t it be a natural move to SS?

SS plays the strong side of the field and is closer to the line of scrimmage and is more of a run stopper and covers tight ends while the FS is more of the last line of the defense and helps the CBs in coverage

It sounds like Dawkins at 6’0 210 is a bit small for SS but may be a bit slow for FS at this point in his career. Can someone tell me what the main responsibilites be of an FS and an SS in Fox’s defense? Thanks again
I know very little about Fox's defense sorry can't help you there buddy

B Dawk is the biggest liability
In pass coverage. Always getting beat by TE’s and always getting call of PI because he gets beat. Y’all want him on the team because he tackles??? Come on now. We need someone in there knocking down passes and able to handle a TE. CUT B DAWK

Funny you should say that
As I was watching all of his extra effort on these runs, making something out of nothing, I couldn’t help but wonder if he should go down every now and then instead of risking injury or fumble by pushing the envelope so hard.
I think all of the youth on this team could benefit
from a new coaching dynamic that perhaps accounts for psychological “rest” when pushing them… See Jack Del Rio’s recent “soul searching” regarding his young athletes…
