What does the cupboard hold from 2010?
The NFL statistics database holds stats on each play by each player.
If the player played in 2010 then they got rated.
Let’s look at the ratings for the Denver Broncos.
Brandon Lloyd WR rated #1 out of 199 players at WR.
Champ Bailey CB rated #2 out of 211 players at CB.
Ryan Clady OT rated #9 out of 121 players at OT.
Matt Prater K rated #8 out of 64 players at K.
Justin Bannan DT rated #11 out of 88 players at DT.
Renaldo Hill S rated #12 out of 185 players at S.
Zane Beatles OG rated #19 out of 128 players at OG.
Kyle Orton QB rated #22 out of 86 players at QB.
DJ Williams LB rated #27 out of 116 players at LB.
Tim Tebow QB rated #27 out of 86 players at QB.
Marcus Thomas DT rated #27 out of 88 players at DT.
Joe Mays LB rated #30 out of 116 players at LB.
Spencer Larsen FB rated #15 out of 30 players at FB.
Mario Haggan LB rated #34 out of 116 players at LB.
DeMaryius Thomas WR rated #37 out of 199 players at WR.
Perrish Cox CB rated #45 out of 211 players at CB.
Ryan Harris OT rated #45 out of 121 players at OT.
Robert Ayers LB rated #45 out of 116 players at LB.
Knowshon Moreno RB rated #54 out of 138 players at RB.
Eddie Royal WR rated #56 out of 199 players at WR.
Matthew Willis WR rated #71 out of 199 players at WR.
Syd’Quan Thompson CB rated #81 out of 211 players at CB.
Chris Kuper OG rated #87 out of 128 players at OG.
Eric Decker WR rated #91 out of 199 players at WR.
Surprises yes, Richard Quinn TE rated #31 out of 107 where as Daniel Graham
is rated #83. Number of plays is a factor but still the rating is of how affective was
the player when he did play.
My O&B glasses do see JD Walton OC rated #31 out of 34 improving.
Darcel McBath staying healthy is a big key.
Plus players returning from IR, like Elvis Dumervil and LenDale White
who are impact players. Also returning are Dan Gronkowski, Kyle McCarthy,
and Lee Robinson who may see extended playing time.
I am not forgetting those players that really ‘showed up’ on special teams like
Britton Colquitt, Cassius Vaughn, David Bruton, David Veikune, and Lance Ball.
The cupboard is not bare but each shelve could use some stocking.
Hope you enjoyed the read.

From my Orange & Blue glasses
I see that much help is needed, but with just a little we can get back to respectable football. I think the big difference will be the coaches who will take the cupboard and improve the stocking of the shelves.
This is great for added perspective
Also great to see only three players fall into the ‘worse half’ category, of the players listed. Somewhat surprising how many fall into the ‘best quarter’….
Thanks for posting!

One of my favorite quotes from a mock drafter was
“For team as bad as the broncos, they have very few holes that need filling”
And now for something completely different
Great info DL!
Pretty amazing that we done really seem to be as bad as we’ve played. Coaching?
I've been bleedin' orange and blue since Floyd Little in '71-'72 and will 'til the day I die!

Dumervil was a harsh loss
If he plays the season, Ayers, Jamal, Bannan and Marcus Thomas have better years as well and the defensive ranking would have been higher.

most defintely
Doom is one of those guys who makes the entire engine run. He’s a spark plug – players feed off his enthusiasm.
"When Tim Tebow does pushups, he's not pushing himself up, he's pushing the world down."
"Gear down there big shifter This is the "No Bull" review man…" a total Lebowski-esque one liner from Sadaraine, whether he realizes it or not - comedic gold.
So according to this
We have players that are a lot more talented than the record indicates? Renaldo Hill is in the top 15 for safetys? Really?

yeah, I struggled with this as well
I like Bannan, but in no way was he the 11th most productive DT in football, no way. Hill at #12 is a joke. The rest I could see, but a few of these guys rankings are defintely flawed.

no doubt.
i don’t know that denver had the best defensive coaches ever lately, but this was the WORST defense in the league. it was a freaking college DII-level defense. not just bad, HISTORICALLY bad. Dooms would’ve helped, but my guess is he’s glad he sat this one out. the broncos have a talent hole on that side and it’s been sucking the dang team down for way too long. my gall bladder will explode if the broncos pull a McX-ahan at this year’s draft.
I'm not sugarcoating this.
this is too funny
McX-ahan

I suggest you learn our defensive placement and the roles of our players
Watching some film will help wonders with judgment.
Based on play, Hill is in the top half of the nfl. Potential is a story for another day.
Really
Cause all I saw from those games was the defense sucking something awful. The only bright spot was Champ. I dont remember any spectacular plays from Hill, maybe just the totally unecessary PI call he drew that cost us the game against the Jets

Which is exactly my point. You can't really judge anything with just snapshots like that
There were players on defense who did well. Hill was solid. We play our FS deep (deeper than any other team in the league) and have our SS in the box on an assignment usually or he is roaming. Hill’s role was never to play a Polomalu type safety, he plays very deep like i mentioned and this is something McDaniels liked to do. We got McBath for this very reason, a rangy safety who reads and reacts never letting the ball get behind him. Hill has done well at his job this year. Out of our DB’s Cox probably did the worst because of his inconsistency
but overrall the DB’s played fine.
If your gripe is that he doesn’t make plays than you have a problem with the scheme not the player.

An additional percentile rating?
Not too good at math myself, but this addition would make this a perfect stock.
You can be dumb... that's ok! There are many dumb people.
You can be an %&*hole... that's ok! There are many of these as well.
Unfortunately you cannot be both...
Ok... prove me wrong.
