I think most people here know from my previous 2 mocks that I love Marcell Dareus but I'm a little scared that Carolina does too. For this mock, I took that into consideration.
Rd1 #1 Carolina selects Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama because he's the best player in this draft.
Good news and bad news for the Broncos, the #1 player on our board is brutally stolen but our phones start ringing off the hooks. We trade the #2 pick to Cincinnati who wants Cam Newton before Buffalo can get him and pick up the #4 and #35 pick this year and a 2nd round pick next year.
Rd1 #2 Cincinnati selects Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
Rd1 #3 Buffalo makes a mistake by selecting Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU instead of Blaine Gabbert who they haven't show any interest in.
Good news and bad news for the Broncos again, the #2 player on our board is gone but our phones start ringing off the hooks again. We trade the #4 pick to San Francisco for their #7, #45 and #107 picks because they want Blaine Gabbert before Arizona can get him.
Rd1 #4 San Francisco selects Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
Rd1 #5 Arizona selects Von Miller, LB, Texas A&M
Rd1 #6 Cleveland selects AJ Green, WR, Georgia
Rd1 #7 Denver selects Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn
I know some people don't like him but I think he's this year's Ndamukong Suh and he'd be a great addition to our team. Its about time we get a little meaner on defense.
Now we start making some serious waves by packaging our #35 and #46 picks and trading them to Chicago for their #29 pick.
Rd1 #29 Denver selects Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois
Mr. Too legit to quit, Corey Liuget, occupies the middle next to Nick Fairley and our D line starts intimidating people.
Rd2 #36 Denver selects Rahim Moore, FS, UCLA
We have a lot of needs but we simply cannot pass on the best safety in the draft.
Rd2 #45 Denver selects Marcus Cannon, RT, TCU
Fills a big need, I'm not sure Ryan Harris can make it an entire year and we need someone solid to protect Tebow's blindside.
Rd3 #67 Denver selects Dontay Moch, OLB, Nevada
From everything I've read and heard Moch is Von Miller at a much cheaper price.
Rd4 #107 Denver selects Kelvin Sheppard, ILB, LSU
Our linebackers are a weakness and we add some quality depth.
Rd6 #184 Denver selects Jeron Johnson, SS, Boise St.
Big fan of how this kid plays and this pick helps our secondary get younger.
Rd7 #194 Denver selects Mike McNeill, TE, Nebraska
Quality late round TE.
To sum up our 2011 draft:
#7 Nick Fairley, DT
#29 Corey Liuget, DT
#36 Rahim Moore, FS
#45 Marcus Cannon, RT
#67 Dontay Moch, OLB
#107 Kelvin Sheppard, ILB
#184 Jeron Johnson, SS
#194 Mike McNeill, TE
