Rd1 Pick #1 - Carolina drafts Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
Cincinnati is up a creek without a paddle because Carson Palmer would rather retire than play for them again and their backups suck. They need to get Cam Newton before Buffalo can so they call us and we trade them the #2 pick for their #4, #35, and #131 picks.
Rd1 Pick #2 - Cincinnati drafts Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
Rd1 Pick #3 - Buffalo drafts Von Miller, DE/OLB, Texas A&M
Rd1 Pick #4 - Denver drafts Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama
Its no secret our defensive line is below average and for the Broncos to return to greatness we need to address our biggest need with the best player available.
Rd2 Pick #35 - Denver drafts Martez Wilson, ILB, Illinois
I really like Joe Mays but we need to upgrade our linebackers and fortunately this very talented inside linebacker falls to us because of an average pro day.
Rd2 Pick #36 - Denver drafts Benjamin Ijalana, RT, Villanova
Tebow is left handed and Ryan Harris is injury prone so we need a major upgrade at right tackle.
Arizona's coach Ken Whisenhunt is on the hot seat and cannot afford to have another poor season with John Skelton at QB. We trade Kyle Orton to Arizona for their #38 pick.
Rd2 Pick #38 - Denver drafts Mason Foster, OLB, Washington
We say goodbye to Orton and hello to another excellent linebacker.
Rd2 Pick #46 - Denver drafts Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina
We need to get two defensive tackles in this year's draft and Austin will be a great compliment to Dareus.
Rd3 Pick #67 - Denver drafts Quinton Carter, FS, Oklahoma
Carter helps our backfield get younger and faster.
Rd5 Pick #131 - Denver drafts Roy Helu, RB, Nebraska
Running backs have a short shelf life in the NFL so we need another one and Helu takes some pressure off Knowshon and Tebow.
Rd6 Pick #184 - Denver drafts Julius Thomas, TE, Portland State
We take a chance on some raw young talent with huge potential.
Rd7 Pick #194 - Denver drafts Jeron Johnson, SS, Boise State
Another upgrade for our backfield.
To recap our 2011 draft:
#4 Marcell Dareus, DT
#35 Martez Wilson, ILB
#36 Benjamin Ijalana, RT
#38 Mason Foster, OLB
#46 Marvin Austin, DT
#67 Quinton Carter, FS
#131 Roy Helu, RB
#184 Julius Thomas, TE
#194 Jeron Johnson, SS
We hugely upgrade our defense, get a right tackle to protect Tebow's blindside, send Orton packing, add a running back who can take some pressure off of Knowshon, and get Tebow a shiny new weapon at tight end.
