From General Manager Nick Cast: Could it get any more picture perfect? First, we traded up a few picks to select the very talented Cameron Jordan. Now, arguably the best OT in the entire draft falls into our laps? Wow. Winning. We, the Patriots, have a need at tackle with Matt Light's upcoming free agency. We needed someone to play opposite of Volmer. Carimi is a run mauler and that's putting it politely. He's big, mean and nasty. He's also smart and could be a starting Right Tackle day one. This is a great "need" pick as well as a value pick.
So with our two first round picks, we have been able to acquire two very talented players who fit our needs and will help our team compete immediately. We're very pleased and look forward to using our remaining 5 picks.
