Mock of Ages

OK, well since everyone wants to mock, I guess I will fall into the trap.

So with the 1st overall pick we trade back to the SF 49ers and pick up their 1st a 3rd, 4th and 5th round pick or the 7th overall, 76th overall, 108th and 140th overall.

With the 7th overall pick – We pick Robert Quinn DE- North Carolina, Bowers may also be a possibility here, but I think Fox pushes hard for another Tar Heel defensive end. Quinn might have been the 1st overall pick had he not been suspended this season, he is healthy and I believe is a more explosive player than Bowers. He reminds me a lot of a bigger version of Dwight Freeny.

With the 2nd round choice (No. 36) – We pick Phil Taylor DT- Baylor, Taylor is a dominant NT/DT and reminds me a lot of Sam Adams type a player, someone who will dominate the run game and can have an impact in the passing game by demanding a double team.

With the 2nd round choice (No. 46) - We pick Taylor’s teammate, Danny Watkins OG-Baylor, It doesn’t look like Harris will get resigned, and I would assume Beadles would be destined to play RT, Watkins is an excellent guard who should excel in Denver.

With the 3rd round choice (No. 67 from Miami) - We pick Davon House CB-NMSU, House has a great size speed combo, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he found his way to the Raiders earlier based on his measurable. However, he is a great developmental prospect to eventually move into a No. 2 CB role in a couple of years.

With the 3rd round choice (No. 76 from the Niners) - We pick Kenrick Ellis DT-Hampton, Another big body to put next to Taylor, Ellis is not as refined as Taylor, but John Fox I think prefers some stout DT’s. With Ellis and Taylor, we would have one of the biggest DT tandems in the league.

With the 4th round choice (No. 108 from the Niners) – We pick Robert Sands FS – West Virginia, A good athlete who lacks some instincts, Sands hopefully can develop into a solid starting safety in this league, and provides more size than our current crop of safeties.

With the 5th round choice (No.140 from the Niners) – We pick Alex Green RB – Hawaii, A guy who is rising up a lot of draft boards, Green has a great size speed combo and was under utilized in Hawaii. Green fits that typical Denver running style and should become a good complementary back with Moreno.

With the 6th round choice – We pick Brandon Fusco C – Slippery Rock, A sleeper pick, I am not enamored with our Center play last year, and I think they look at trying to bring in someone to push JD Walton in camp and maybe store him on the PS and let him develop.

With the 7th round choice – We pick Julius Thomas TE – Portland State, I have seen many thinking he will be a 6th rounder, but I think he will be available at the top of the 7th. Thomas is a decent prospect that will take a few years to develop.
