Broncos back off of shopping Orton
Maybe being rebuffed by Minnesota has caused the Broncos' brass to reconsider trading Orton. Or maybe teams are holding their cards too close to their vests because of the uncertainty going forward for Denver to believe that they'll likely receive anything of value in return for Kyle.
Again, stay tuned.

Multiple things here
1. Mostly everything you hear like this right now this time of year is a lie.
2. Brady Quinn is also a Veteran quarterback, at about a 12th the cost of Orton.
3. This could easily be more posturing so they can get what they want for the guy, which is good value
4. Wait til teams become more desperate for QB’s especially a team like MIN
5. What is their basis on here? The team prefers a veteran QB? What team doesn’t? Problem is, Orton is gone after this year anyway, so why not get value while you still can?

yep
agreed on all fronts.
This is the posturing season. But it seems as though Denver and Minnesota did have a conversation about Orton.
IF that is true, the question is who initiated it.
I’d have to think that there’s next to NO chance Orton is here past 2011, if he’s even here that long.

Go Broncos!
My guess
Vikes low-balled us on an offer, trying to fleece the new regime. I’ll bet they offered a fourth or something, and we hung up the phone. lol

I don't understand.
In the other fanshot on this issue you said you’d rather overpay Orton and you wouldn’t trade him for less than a second rounder but her it seems like you are saying we should take what we can get because we are going to get nothing for Orton after next year. What gives?
Oh, you were finished? Oh, well, allow me to retort!

In what way did I convey that message?
I never even implied that we should take what we can get. I said if we want a veteran QB, we have one already. We shouldn’t keep Orton because he has experience under his belt.

I think us fans were
the ones who started the rumor about trading Orton for our second. I havent heard this anywhere else other than on people mocks

"Leadership is like porn, you know it when you see it. In this case, Tebow is a pornstar."

It was reported in the Denver Post
a while back, but after the season.

It's funny sometimes
How people view news, when it’s something they like, they think it’s not a rumor, but truth, but when it’s something they don’t like, it’s coach speak or a lie. Funny stuff.

lol yeah that true I think we all do it sometimes though.
I find it interesting is that last year how so many were quite sure
Orton wasnt getting a extension
Quinn was brought into start
Orton would be traded by camp
Tebow would be starting on opening day last season etc
Now Elway is posturing ?
Last year we placed a 1st rd tender on Orton and everyone said well they did that knowing no one will give us a first for him but they fail to realize that maybe the Broncos bras knew that someone wouldve snatched him up for a second . The same would stand for this year Im sure we know we can get a second but after actually being able to talk to other front offices I dont consider them as having second thoughts in fact I dont believe anyone ever said Orton was gonna be traded .
The Denver post started that rumor after Tebow started the final 3 games and the national media and fans just ran with it . It was started before Fox even took over as coach .

They are planning for a very possible lockout. Under the lockout they would be foolish to even think of trading
Orton until they see Tebow in competition. If they decide Tebow is the guy they can still trade Orton before week 6. Planning for a lockout I would say the exact same thing.
If things change though and a new CBA is announced soon and before the draft then I can see this changing. I can then see them at least listening to offers for Orton from other teams. It is a matter of whether or not he will get us value this year or next. Possibly even none at all (but I highly doubt it).
