Best case scenario (IMO)
Pick up Michael Huff from the Raiders in FA, Roman Harper as well. Let go of Dawkins unless he's willing to be a backup, and let's go HARD after Cofield.
Onto the draft:
Trade alert - Denver trades down to 8 with Houston and picks up a third and Okoye. Denver drafts Nick Fairley.
Second round, Denver goes after Kyle Rudolph and Mikel Leshoure.
Third round - Denver goes after a tackle and a LB - Martez Wilson, Sturdivant, etc.
Not mocking other rounds, it's a crapshoot. However I'd see about picking up another LB in the later rounds, perhaps Herzlich from BC?
Denver's line issues will have been addressed, as you now have a rotation of Fairley, Cofield, Vickerson, and Okoye. You have Ayers and Dumervil as well. We've addressed the safeties, leaving Goodman and Champ starting for another year with Cox as our nickel. Our linebacking core will need to be revamped next year, but we're solid enough to get by as long as we have a decent pass rush and corners.
Offensively, we pick up a huge RB and a solid RT to protect Tebow's blind side, while giving him an incredible weapon in Rudolph.
Next year we focus on addressing corners and linebackers in the draft.
Me like. What say you?

I really dont mind this
although I’m sure others will. I would love to get Rudolf. So what did we get from Houston for our #2 pick? If we got their second rounder I wouldn’t mind going after Paea with that pick.
Most mocks
have Rudolf going in the 1st round now. Not sure I agree but that is what is happening with some of those “in the know” guys.
yeah they own 11
I still wouldn’t hate it. If Fairley falls to 9 I dont know that either Dallas or Washington would take him so the scenario is still possible. I feel kind of stupid not catching this myself.

Oversights happen MTBF...no big deal

I like that you have Huff here. He is an intriging prospect that doesnt get a lot of mention here.
Renaldo Hill is a solid safety. Huff can take over at FS and that might workout. Dawkins is our biggest weakness in the secondary. Our front 7 has holes everywhere and depth issues which can be solved any number of ways.
I was really against spending another high pick on a RB not to long ago. However Leshoure is a really good prospect. He has the size and speed to match. I think if we trade our first 2nd rounder and move down a bit, we should pick him up.
As for Martez Wilson, I really don’t like him. He has a lot of potential, but we need a high rate of success in this draft not a bunch of “maybe’s”. Martez Wilson didn’t have the production that you’d like to see. I would much rather take a flyer on a guys like; Greg Jones, Casey Mathews, Mark Herzlich, K.J. Wright, Quan Sturdivant.
I highlighted guys that are proven leaders of their defenses. We have needed this terribly in the front 7 ever since Al Wilson left.
Finally, Rudolph is a 1st round TE. He could have very well been in the top 15 if he wasn’t injured. Tremendous value i him.
Makes no sense because you don’t have a grasp on facts/reality.
Players can’t be traded and Houston has the 11th pick, not 8.
So no Okoye or no Fairley. You need to try again with the facts in mind this time.
ConradA to me "You should actually watch a Broncos game from a critical point of view. Put away the orange and blue glasses for a game and watch." Maybe I'll try that sometime Conrad, but I'm not sure I'm ready for that just yet.
Ok, McGeorge
It was an oversight, I meant Okoye, 3rd rd pick, and the #11 overall.
Maybe you need to get a grasp on the golden rule. I understand that I made a factual error, but there’s no need to be such a rude a&&hole.
Of course this trade is assuming the CBA is in place. I didn’t realize I needed to fully explain everything to a knowledgable fan base.
The CBA won’t be in place though. They don’t even have a negotiating session scheduled until mid to late May. So the assumption we have to make here is that you are assuming that the judge in Minnesota will grant the players their injunction to end the lockout. Even with that in place, we have no legal precedent to follow in terms of player trades, contracts or free agency.
Despite your opinion on the tone of his post, McGeorge is quite right when he says that you have no basis in reality for this mock draft happening. There is virtually zero chance that the CBA will be in place for the draft that is now a week away. That’s the simple reality. So no player trades, obviously. If I am wrong and the owners and players SOMEHOW manage to agree on a new CBA despite not even having a negotiating session……..well, I’ll be more than happy to be wrong if that happens.

Appreciate the mock
it’s something to read and pass the time. Look forward to future mocks/posts berserker.
I would actually be pretty concerned if we did not pick Peterson if he was available
Here’s why: I love Champ and he is good for another couple of years. However, it is time to look beyond his time and here and plan for the future as well. Goodman to my mind has lost a step already. Again, he is still good, but for how much longer? Ordinarily, I would be inclined to wait a year as suggested in this post, but Peterson has the potential to be a transcendent talent of the type that comes along once a generation. If he is available, I think you have to take him. This draft is tremendously deep on the D-line, the Broncos main area of concern, so I think you can take Peterson at 2 and still be able to get first round talent on the D-line in the second round.
Never let them see you bleed.
