Draft Preview: Davon House (via foxsports)
The CB class this year is fairly weak, with a couple of top players in Patrick Peterson, Prince and Jimmy Smith, and then a pretty significant drop off after that. While I like Peterson, I can't see justifying a top 5 pick with him, even though he may be the most complete player in the draft. With that said, I am guessing that the Broncos will likely draft a front seven player with their top pick amd likely look offensive and defensive lines in the second round.
We all know our secondary is aging, there aren't many safety prospects that really seem worth a draft pick. However, one guy that is somewhat flying under the radar is Davon House. Davon House played for NMSU, which I can't even tell you what conference they were in (Big Sky/West?), which is sad considering I used to live in Las Cruces for a spell. But House has some great measurables being 6' 1", 200 lbs, and he runs a 4.44 forty. His stats he was a four year starter for the Aggies, and had 202 tackles and 11 int over his career. Most of his Int were during his first seasons and teams quickly figured out to throw away from Davon, in addition, Davon teams were useally down early and often, so teams would routinely run the ball in the second half, again cutting down his chances for Int. But this kid can play, he needs work in that he sometimes got caught flat footed staring into the backfield, but knew his athelism could bail him out, which won't work in the NFL. I think he is worth a look at the end of round 3 or top of round 4. He is likely big enough and physical enough to also move to safety at the next level as well. Enjoy the highlites above, sorry they are limited.
